[Salvia] Do I need a trip sitter?

Just some thoughts on using Salvia alone. Since the "comma" like state only last a few minutes (so I have heard) would it be possible? Has anyone done Salvia alone?? I have not done Salvia before but I have heard that it is like no other drug. I have done some research on it and found out that it could be pretty intense. I would love your input.
thanks

i think that all depends on the variables. You need to say how much experience you have with psychedelics, and how much you have with salvia.
Personally, I trust myself alone, but if I lacked all my experience and knowledge on salvia, there's no way I would pass up the trip sitter.

I've heard stories of people getting up and walking around while on salvia, and then having no memory of it later on. So i wouldn't necessarily recommend it.
Also, the one time i got the full effects of it, i was really glad to have other people around me, because I felt like it gave me something to come back to.

I have smoked salvia alone on several occasions, but have yet to reach the so-called "breakthrough", where you totally lose touch with reality. I read a thread somewhere where a number of people said they always smoke salvia while alone. However, the large majority of knowledgable users say that you should ALWAYS have a trip-sitter, due to the fact that when you're "totally gone" (mentally) many people get up, walk around, try to run, or do other things. You wouldn't want to accidentally injure yourself or trash your place. Also, sometimes people need a trip-sitter to talk to them and calm them down when they're experiencing the peak effects of salvia. One person said that they locked their bedroom door, then put a sign on the door that said something like "DO NOT OPEN THIS DOOR!", then put a mattress up against the door, further blocking it. After he smoked, he actually threw the mattress away from the door, and was about to go outside when he came down enough to realize what he was doing. So unless you can handcuff yourself to the bed or something, I'd suggest a trip-sitter. :-)

So far, the only time I've gone completely blotto with salvia was when I smoked an extract while coming down from mushrooms.
If you're mentally stable, I'd say salvia is all right to do alone. If you're new to it, you might consider the quid approach before smoking the stuff, since it's gentler on your system and lasts much longer.

hey thanks for the reply. I have not done Salvia before, and I guess it would be a good idea to have a trip sitter. Now it is just going to be hard to find one. My old one said that she doesnt want to trip anymore and she feels that I shouldn't aswell. Oh well that is life.....
thanks all

Ideally you need a trip sitter with you, preferably someone who is somewhat familiar with salvia.
Otherwise you are taking the risk of hurting yourself (think: involuntary sleepwalking) or drawing attention to yourself (and salvia).

I do salvia alone, but when i smoke it i -cant- move...so im not too worried about going anywhere.

The quid approach is, rather than smoking the leaves, packing a bundle (or quid) in the roof of your mouth. This lets the Salvinorin-A enter your bloodstream through capilaries in your mouth.
My understanding, though I have never tried it, is that this is the traditional (read: ancoient) way to get the effects, but they arn't as pronounched and it takes longer (but don't quote me on that last part).
As for your trip sitter, just tell her that even though she may have objections, her presence is needed to be sure that you are safe while you try this potentially disorienting drug. Most of my non tripping friends, even those who disapprove of my activities, still trip sit for me, becuase they know it's a safety issue; they would rather me do it safe than not, even if they would be happiest if I didn't do it at all.

Thanks atlas that is a good point. I will ask her and I am sure that she will say yes just for my saftey.
Thanks to everyone who replyed.

Instead of a "comma" like state, I'd describe it as more of an "exclamation point" state!

Hey Wiz nice to hear from ya. I think that one of my friends will sit with me but he is not experianced with Salvia, so maybe it would be a good chance to experiment together. ( Uh oH who is going to go first :) )
Hey Wiz msg me or email me once your have got the Salvia and you experimented with it, I would love to hear about your experiance.

I hope for your sake that you're one of those people who has an immediate breakthrough experience. It can get quite frustrating after a while. I've smoked plain leaf, 5x, and 10x, and have yet to feel anything more than like the very beginning stages of an acid trip. I read a Trip Report from someone who had to smoke 1/2 an ounce before he had a breakthrough, though I'm the only one I've heard of who has smoked a significant amount of 10x and not lost touch with this reality. If your trip sitter doesn't know anything about salvia, just tell him/her to keep you from walking around, and ignore you if you say things like "I'm dying, take me to the hospital!". They can also say soothing words if you start flipping out, like "Everything's gonna be OK, just calm down." Mostly the danger is from the "sleep-walking" type activity. Good luck!

on thing i will say about salvia, is that you must go hard or be dissapointed. in other words, to have a "breakthrough" you must get a 5x or 10x extract. this may not be true for everyone, but regular salvia will only give mild effects to a "heavyweight"(some1 who does a lot of drugs).
my first salvia experience was when me and my friend got hooked up with a half-o each, and we smoked about 20 bowls each and realized it sucked. but about 6 months later i bought some 5x extract and it was friggin (can u cuss on bluelight?) awesome.
sorry if this post makes no sense, but im high right now

Hey Targa, you said that my trip sitter should ignore my cries to go to the hospital. This brought on an interesting thought.
Is it possible to OD off of Salvia. And I know that ODing can mean differnt things to differnt people, but my view is that ODing is the event where you basically go into cardiac arrest and that your heart rate, either slows down almost to a stop or beats so fast that my heart will explode. And one goes completly uncoincious.
Basically can Salvia hospitalize a person if taken too much, or is it like weed?
That probally made no sence but I am very sleepy.
thanks

negative on the cardiac arrest...whilst in my opnion i dont want to say that it is as "safe" as THC...I think it is more apropriating to the individuals mind. If you indeed have a breakthrough trip...its is all more upon your state of mind. I.e.. it could theoretically be possible to send yourself into cardiac arrest simply by "scaring" yourself to death while your ego is dissolved, but not likely while under the ego dissolution of salvinoium A. The only drugs where i have seen such potential for such an experience would have to be level 4 plateua trips induced from major psycadelics such as 2ct7.

I have experienced the Salvia 'trip'! I tried an extract enhanced, single 'toke', and was so preoccupied that I didn't have a 'sitter', I missed most of it trying to maintain. I can't speak on plain leaf, and the 'x' factors, but there is an experience to be had if you look for it!
If you have an interest in Salvia. I would recommend HIGHLY that you read the 'User's Guide' (are we allowed to post links? I can't remember!) at: http://sagewisdom.org/usersguide.html
It is long and full of important info. If anything, I think it's understated. In the interest of not calling anymore attention to another substance teetering on the brink of falling onto a federal schedule, I will close now.
