Safe to redose short-acting benzos after 12 hours?

I guess you could say I'm a very casual user of benzos. I don't have much of a tolerance, I usually take 20 mg cinolazepam (equivalent to 5 mg diazepam) at night for 2-4 consecutive days, then stop for a week or more. They make me feel chill even at such a low dose, so I never sought to increase it. And they do help with insomnia.

But I always dosed only once in 24 hours, as it's prescribed and recommended in the leaflet. My question is: can I redose after only 12 hours? Safe to do so? Half-life is 9 hours. Not planning to get high. I'm having a real bad time with a heightened anxiety, due to some very unhappy events in my family. I want to take 1/4 of a pill, i.e. 10 mg (~2.5 mg diazepam), so it doesn't put me to sleep, just calm me down a bit, until things get sorted out. I don't know if it matters, but on Friday I took 1.5 mg of bromazepam instead of it - it has a longer half-life, 12-20 hours, but perhaps it doesn't count.

ime if you redose a benzo before the effects are completely gone and may be wait a few bit just to be sure (sometiems you don't even know the effects are gone), sure makes for a too-benzoed at least for me.
to me alprazolam was supposedly a fast, sort half-life benzo but i remember a few days poppin one like 6am than poppin another bar 9 or 10am, and only noticed the following day that there was blank in my mind after i popped the second pill.

but of course, that was a total of 4mg xanax, wich i believe is equiavelant to 80mg diazepam. so, my guess is that with doses as low as yours (5mg diazepam) you don't need to worry at all.

Depends on the biological half-life of the drug and your personal tolerance. If the half-life is 9 hours its definitely still in your system. But if you're not too concerned about tolerance you'll be alright. As long as you're only taking benzos you'll usually have a pretty wide window of safe dosages.
