I know in general "diet pills" and "appetite suppressants" aren't very healthy and can fuck with your heart. I haven't actually done much research on them but I figured I'd start here first for help with the direction I should be looking in !

Basically, I am looking for safer kinds of appetite supressant, not necessarily for losing weight but to help during days when I need to curb my appetite for several hours or so. These wouldn't be taken daily, at most maybe 3-4 times a week and for no more than a month or two. I will still be eating healthy, but I'm hoping these will help regulate my eating patterns/schedule. If at all possible, I'd also like something that will help boost my energy, as I expect not eating for hours at a time will have an effect on the amount of energy I will have during my day.

Any suggestions? Please no criticisms.. I know it's not the smartest idea and I should just stick with a healthy diet and regular exercise to gain more energy and keep a stable weight so I don't need to be told that. I'm just looking for other people's experiences with "diet pills" or whatever they are called and if there are any somewhat more risk-free kinds to try out. Thanks!

look into yerba mate, its very good for you and is a great appetite suppressant.

i know you said you didnt want to hear it but eating well really is the best way to do things. listen to your body and avoid too much fatty food and it should encourage a proper metabolism and all that stuff. by messing with your metabolism you would always have to suppress your appetite as your body will start storing everything you eat because it isnt sure when it will get more nutrients and it will cause low energy because things are stored instead of used. so really eating less can be quite counter productive for loosing weight....

marijuana. it's definitely not going to promote you to live any better but it's gotta be less physiologically damaging than any pill. it's almost 7pm here and all i've had to eat today was a small bowl of cereal after waking. i've walked 5km, jogged two more, haven't even been high today, and i'm just now getting hungry again.

marijuana does the opposite from suppressing your appetite. Actually one of its three medical uses (the other is analgesia and anti-emetic) is to stimulate the appetite.

yeah the munchies are a compelling reason to think so but after a while it's going to work against hunger pretty powerfully. many stoners can attest to such an unlikely conclusion :)

I have the opposite problem, I barely have enough time in the day to eat as much as I need to. Hoodia seems pretty popular nowadays, or you could try a protein shake. Casein and egg albumin are two good slow digesting proteins than can keep you feeling full and still supply energy, mix them with oats or a good complex carbohydrate such as waxy maize starch and you'll be golden.

You shouldn't replace balanced meals with them, but they're a good lean alternative to junky snacks.

If you want to go the diet pill route, I've heard from many that AMP 2 by Ergopharm is pretty good for weight loss and energy. Though mainly aimed at male bodybuilders it doesn't contain anything that will mess with your hormones, a lower dosage might work well for you and extend the amount of servings per bottle. This is all hearsay though, I've never used it and the warning on the label is kind of lengthy, but the ingredient profile seems safe.

What keeps me healthy AND looking good?
A diet of high protein, complex carbs, high fiber, good fat foods. Protein sources will keep you fuller longer. Strength training 3-4 days a week plus high intensity cardio. When I am exercizing I feel better. If I feel better I look better and am less likely to undo my hard work at the gym.
Skip the pills, love. Been there tried that. Nothing works better than the basics.

I am a stoner and mj does not curb my appetite. I work-out so I can indulge in the munchies :)

I can attest against such a conclusion. Actually appetite stimulation is one of the primary reasons I use marijuana (well and the fun of the high of course :D). Trying to eat above maintenance is kinda hard sometimes, but not after puffing even just a tiny bit...my jaw just like 'unhinges' and my stomach 'expands' and I can shovel food in. I think it disinhibits some signal in your brain that 'enough is enough.'

I've been smoking on and off pretty consistently for 10 years.

Caffeine does a good job of suppressing, but almost guarantees a huge binge due to a sudden gush of hunger afterwards.

I'm with PI on this one :)

QFT.

5 HTP is used as an appetite regulator, as well as a mood enhancer and it helps with insomnia.

Also fantastic to help rebuild your serotonin after rollin' :)
