My friend will be spending just over a week in jail soon and I'd like to help him make it as comfortable as possible. Do any of you know of any good prescription medications he could take that would make the time pass a little easier? He can take prescription meds with him and they'll administer them as recommended on the Rx. Right now he has Ambien and Klonopin. Is there anything else that would be worth getting that he could possibly be given in conjunction with these two? What I mean is... the nurses in jail won't administer Xanax and Klonopin simultaneously. Maybe some painkillers? (Getting the prescriptions isn't a problem... I just don't know what to ask for.) Thanks.

speed in jail? bad idea. again, in my opinion. i'd say any benzo that will basically knock his ass out. i'd go with xanax, cause i never remember a damn thinking after taking a few of those.

speed in jail is a terrible idea...get some percocets or something to go with the benzos

I would personally go for opiates - have the doctor script something high enough you dont have to try and save the pills up (ie an OC 40 is enough to get you more then high enough).. if buzzed on opiates, jail could actually be fun.. all nice and blissed I would just tear up at chess, win trays, sleep in late, take long showers... jail isn't that bad really, drugs would make it a lot less bad.. you might also benifit from a nightly tranqualizer, something like a full .25mg Halcion - it can be hard getting to sleep if you're not used to it..
I would personally want to avoid amphetamines..
Might want to re-think it though, they generally put all the "med heads" in the same area, away from general population (which can leave you with some crazy people)

I guess it depends on the jail but I can't see them putting him in the bug ward for having an opiate or benzo script...
and for everyone making anal sex jokes, you've seen too many movies
the guy is going in for a week, nobody will touch him

The Klonopins are pretty good.
If he is prescribed those...and takes a bunch of those, he'll just sleep and probably forget most of the time.
I have forgoten days from them!

Thanks... Any more suggestions?
PhreeX, it sounds like you have personal experience with this. You're right, they do put everyone who has a prescription together but, here where we live, the pods they use for the "med heads" is a much newer, nicer facility. As a matter of fact, a lot of the weekenders know this and get prescriptions for ANYTHING just to get put over there (ibubrofen, asthma inhalers, etc.) He's been doing weekends for several weeks and he's just going to do the rest of his time straight through instead of doing five more weekends. He did mention that it was sometimes hard to sleep; that's why we got him the Ambien. The Klonopin was just to help pass time and relax him. I'll probably talk to our "doctor" soon to get him something that he can take with those two. I doubt he'd like anything that's going to energize him... he's already restless when he's in there. I think it would just frustrate him even more.
Again, any more suggestions are greatly appreciated!

If you're going to a county lockup for a week then they will administer any script you have - when you turn yourself in you hand over the meds, and as long as the script was written by a legit doctor, they will give you your meds as per the directions on the bottle (if it says ONE pill TWICE a day then you get NO MORE then that, and they watch you take the pill) .. now if you're going in for a long sentence you will be re-evaluated by their doctors, and of course anything abusable is out of the question unless you're REALLY messed up..
When I was locked up they had EVERYONE taking any type of medicine in a totally seperate area..

County jail = no dicks in anyones ass..

I don't know what county jail you went to, but everyone I met that had a script for narcotic painkillers did not get to take their meds in jail. The head nurse's opinion was that there were other alternatives such as dealing with it and that painkillers beyond anything OTC were a sham.
Yes, many people complained and wrote grievances about this and many other things. I believe all complaints were put in the trash. Nobody cared. Nobody did shit about anything.
On the other hand, I didn't get assraped. Neither did anyone else. I guess it was a good trade off.

It's my understanding that if you go in for a short-term stay, any legit script you have will be delt to you as per the bottles instructions.. of course if there is any reason to believe the script isn't legit this doesn't apply, but I know that my ex-gf's dad got to take his MS Contin with him when he went in for a weekend lockup .. not sure how others are delt with - anyone?
I imagine it comes down to your offence, sentence, fascility, etc..

Well I don't know if it differs from state to state or facility to facility but MOST jails have to provide scripted meds, regardless of what they are, to their custodies for the simple reason that they would be facing huge liability if someone got sick/bugged out/died because they didn't get their meds.
And some fucking nurse cannot arbitrarily decide that narcotics are not legitimate meds, that's bullshit...I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it's rare. I have seen guys get percs, insulin (supervised injection), benzos, antipsychotics, muscle relaxants, ssri's, heart meds, antibiotics, THE AIDS meds, just about everything you can think of.
And in state or fed prison there's still a lot of guys taking daily meds. But yeah they're not going to keep you on something like percocet for months...

i went through living hell when i was locked up a couple of years ago.my methadone script was stopped, after id been on 100mg/day for almost a year, without even reducing me first.to be fair, the fuckers did give a couple of aspirin a day.

PhreeX, County jail equals no dick in anyones ass? I beg to differ. I think if you spent a few months in a jail facility like say, ummm, LA County you would get raped if you were white and not associated with a prison or street gang.
This is almost a certainty. Maybe you could argue that people there aen't locked up enough to want to fuck other guys, but I wouldn't want to chance it. From people I know who have been incarcerated in California, LA County is worse in a lot of ways than state or federal prison because of all the hardcore longterm violator that have to be processed their first before being sentenced and sent up state.
Point is, don't go to jail thinking you won't get raped because if that's your mentality you probably will.
