Ritalin jitters...

after feeling the peak of my Ritalin "euphoria" from a decent dose, (40mg Ritalin LA time released crushed and swallowed), i always get these "jitters" and feel kinda weird, not "high" anymore. It's weird because I can feel myself becoming more tired (ritalin wearing off) but also wide awake and unable to sleep because of these jitters/unrestlessness.

is there anything i can get at a local drug store to help with this? not necessarily falling asleep, just getting rid of the annoying jitters? for sleep i usually take 75mg benadryl which doesnt make me fall asleep but i usually manage to fall asleep within 1hr of taking it.

any ideas?

Magnesium & 5htp maybe? The nasty comedowns are what made me just sell all my stash of focalin.
 
I can't think of anything that would take the jitters away that is OTC and won't make you fall asleep but, as I sure you know, benzos are the way to go.
 
^Good idea. Smoking after stimulants (except coke) is really nice. I take them almost daily, and nothing is better than weed at night. (especially if you're staying up all night)
 
And I wouldn't take a benzo just for shakes/jitteriness/insomnia due to another drug (anymore). Thats just a little...extreme. The comedowns aren't THAT bad. Especially from an oral dose like that, comeon.
 
Well, here's for getting /drunk/ on the ritalin comedown...Too drunk. It's the only way to really avoid the jitters. And btw, I've been up all night doing oral rits (for a change) - can it possibly be that sublingual absorbtion onset is almost as quick as insufflation? Insufflation causes me to have horrible comedowns, but they are a lot more economic...
 
actually, it is morning where I live. EARLY morning, and I can't decide whether to stay drunk a little longer or just crash....The thing is, when I do rits, I never get hangovers, and I drink insane amounts- I'm on my second bottle of vodka right now. It just doesn't seem to penetrate the stimulation effects of the rits. Weird. But there ya go.
 
Hm, well I don't think he was asking how to stay up all night either. Really, point over. Theres no real way to stop the jitters, besides waiting/sleeping it off. GO TO BED
 
I would take a small amount of benzos too. Not weed. It can sometimes make me more jittery in that situation, but that's just me, I know others love it. That's a hit or miss for me, so then I'm back to benzos again.

Try and EAT (best thing for me to start feeling normal), drink water, take valerian or better yet melatonin if you have it. I don't always like Benadryl for sleep since it is an antihistamine, which again, for me, those sometimes magnify the jitters/restlessness. Try a regular sleep aid, like Sominex if you have it when you're ready for sleep.

Sorry, now that I reread and saw how much you've been boozing, I guess some of my pill-popping advice isn't as good!

ok, had some benzos and went out - for like 1 hour. Now I'm back on the rits and vodka...Isn't life just wonderful when lived healthy?
 
I cant understand that you can like ritalin and alcohol toghether, they both have the shittyest day after.. Toghter its pure hell even if you get some sleep.
 
Well, ya see, that's where the funny part begins: it seems that the ritalin (or other stims) cancel out the effects of the alcohol, and I end up with no hangover whatsoever! It's very weird, because when I drink without stims, I get the worst hangovers /ever/.
 
Good for you, I guess if you have more of the stim in the morning youll be fine. I am handling a strange day-after myslef, took acid while going out at a club yesterday, I could outdrink everybody with teqila. And I smoked bubblehash all night, I am baselining now with some valium. Ahh, I want to go back 18 hours in time.
 
- benzos (valium, xanax, ativan, librium, klonoin)
- cannabis (indica dominant strains only of course)
- gabapentin / pregabalin
- carisoprodol (soma)

- less ritalin?
- if you are sniffing it (which is the only time it gives me jitters, swallow or plug it)
