I've honestly never thought I had adhd. But about a month ago I started really having symptoms. 4 months ago I was put on zoloft 50mg and doxepin 30mg. I'm seeing my shrink on friday.
Can ssris make adhd worse ?
And how long would you expect methylphenidate WDs to last if I stopped cold turkey after 5 months on 30mg daily ? I just need an estimate.
And I apologise for my behavior in my last thread here.

It could be possible to have attention issues induced by SSRIs. It may not be classified as ADHD, but attention is definitely affected. When serotonin levels are increased, dopamine levels are reduced.

Oh the decrease in dopamine could explain a whole lot of other side effects. Like less pleasure when listening to music...
I'm pretty sure I had very mild symptoms before starting the zoloft. But now they're heavily affecting me. I'll hopefully get treated.

^ It very well could be due to the dopamine.

Since you've experienced mild attention issues prior to starting your meds, it's highly likely that this just exacerbated everything. Perhaps your doc will add a medication to help stimulate the dopamine levels.

In the meantime, try these foods to help. You really have nothing to lose and it's worth a shot! :)

Your body needs tyrosine to make dopamine. Foods that have tyrosine in them are bananas, almonds, meat and poultry. Increasing your antioxidant intake could prove helpful too. Some antioxidant foods are greens, orange vegetables, broccoli, peppers, oranges, strawberries, nuts and vitamins C and E. Just try to avoid things such as refined white flower, foods high in cholesterol, caffeine and saturated fat. Not only are those foods bad for the body, but they inhibit dopamine production. No wonder why I always feel bad after eating a Big Mac ;)

Thanks ad lib,
I'll eat more bananas. And I really should increase my protein intake. It went from 150-200g /day to less than 50.
