What's interesting:

"The Free Speech Movement (FSM) was a student protest which took place during the 1964–1965 academic year on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley under the informal leadership of students Mario Savio, Jack Weinberg, Brian Turner, Bettina Apthecker, Steve Weissman, Art Goldberg, Jackie Goldberg, and others. In protests unprecedented at the time, students insisted that the university administration lift a ban on on-campus political activities and acknowledge the students' right to free speech and academic freedom."

And now their violently protesting AGAINST free speech. Hmm...

They rioted because he supports Trump. As awful as Trump is, at least he was nominated and elected fairly. Where were they when HRC stole the democrat nominaton?

Presumably, they were campaigning for Sanders.
There's nobody to turn to for leadership now, so resistance and direct action is the only option for Trump's opponents.

The sad thing is that milo and his ilk are really just a distraction from the real game.
People are going to exhaust their energy on shit like like and run out of steam in fighting Trump.

They need to take a step back and a deep breath and fight what is important - not just everything that comes along.

indeed.

mgs, these people don't represent 'the left coast' (or 'the left') any more than radical, fundamentalist muslims represent all of islam. or any tiny subset of a population represents the whole population.

but i think you already know this...

Trump is not stupid, he knows that it would be dumb to do anything so soon, he has at least 8 years, letting them damage themselves to the point that the majority wants to see these people go away is much smarter.

This kind of goes along with the mindset that got my thread addressing virtue signaling closed. The left has become authoratarian, angry/bitter, and very much against free speech of any kind that doesn't fit their narrow world view. All the violence comes from the left they are the ones that caused it on the right as well, for the most part. All that 'bird dogging' stuff just shows how desperate they have become. After eight years of trump I'm betting the strong economy will quell much of the whining.

I will say I was looking at trends in the bond markets last night, and it seems to be signaling interest rate lowering this year. What in the world could cause them to lower other than a recession. Hmm

To be fair, its been 3 years since ive been to California. So i cannot claim to know what's going on out there. I do miss being there.

They are trying to bait Trump into strong arm tactics early on. We've seen Trump does not fall for traps.

He will let the left discredit itself, let Sessions imprison who he can, and replace Democrats with nationalists at the midterm to have a 70-30 or so GOP Senate. Then he will force fascists who call themselves anti-fascists to their knees, pitifully begging for mercy.

relevant information.

Anarchists from around the Bay Area, NOT Cal students, were the ones who demonstrated violently last night in Berkeley.

official UC Berkeley statement

We condemn in the strongest possible terms the violence and unlawful behavior that was on display, and deeply regret that those tactics will now overshadow the efforts to engage in legitimate and lawful protest against the performer’s presence and perspectives.

The University and the UCPD went to extraordinary lengths to plan for this event and put the appropriate resources in place in order to maintain security. Officials were in contact with other campuses and paid close attention to lessons learned at the speaker’s prior events. Dozens of additional police officers were on duty. Multiple methods of crowd control were in place. Ultimately and unfortunately, however, it was simply impossible to maintain order given the level of threat, disruption, and violence.

We regret that the threats and unlawful actions of a few have interfered with the exercise of First Amendment rights on a campus that is proud of its history and legacy as home of the Free Speech Movement. As Chancellor Dirks made clear in his message to the Berkeley campus community, while Mr. Yiannopoulos views, tactics and rhetoric are profoundly contrary to our own, we are bound by the Constitution, the law, our values, and the campus’s Principles of Community to enable free expression across the full spectrum of opinion and perspective.

faulty generalization and demonizing the enemy are the fascists' and christofascists' go-to propaganda techniques though, so facts will do little to alter the discussion. "the left is the anti-christ!" will be the only thing we'll continue to hear.

why do you think i'm generalizing everyone who isn't "left" as a fascist? dont you think that, just maybe, i'm only calling fascists fascists? or is it that you, like every regressive, think that everyone who isnt a fascist is "the left", and thus think that me calling out fascists as fascists is also an attack against everyone who you view is not "left" (which, by that view, would be correct, since everyone to the left of fascism is considered "the left" by fascists)?

The left wing not the best at rioting to be fair. I think that's why they keep calling the right thugs, they want to be but just not up to it. Lol

I'm well aware of the full spectrum of political views and how to objectively define them. I don't use the term "fascism" as a general term for authoritarian. Without getting too tied down on minutia, like the 14 points of fascism, we can generalize it a bit better than that

The 1983 American Heritage Dictionary defined fascism as: "A system of government that exercises a dictatorship of the extreme right, typically through the merging of state and business leadership, together with belligerent nationalism."
Fascism originated in Italy, and Mussolini claims to have invented the word itself. It was actually his ghostwriter, Giovanni Gentile, who invented it and defined it in the Encyclopedia Italiana in this way: "Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power."

So, basically we have extreme authoritarianism/totalitarianism + extreme right wing (capitalist) + extreme nationalism as fascism, and everyone who supports fascism or fascist policies is, by definition, a fascist. I do not use the term lightly, but i will not hesitate to call fascists out as fascists.

^ ya but if you are being honest with yourself there is only one political side demonstrating in a fascist manner.
These people shut down a gay Jewish immigrant from speaking, all bc they don't like the libertarian principle he espouses. That is truly sad, especially for the college it happened at!
Those videos of the people that went to see milo being brutalized suprised me. They were stomping on this unconscious mans head in one.

Yeah, the right wing regressive totalitarian nationalists (fascists by definition, as i just covered), ie trump supporters. Trump even satisfies almost all 14 of the 14 points of fascism, the only one he hasn't checked definitively is fraudulent elections, although even that is arguable. If you guys would just be honest with yourselves and admit that you're fascists instead of crying and getting all offended when somebody tells it like it is, things would go a lot smoother. Show some integrity for once, then you could at least be respected for being honest and owning up to your beliefs.

Please argue the authenticity of your claim, because Russia did not rig votes, the only people that rigged the voting were the illegal aliens who voted that had no right to vote.
