My log in remember me tick box is ticked for me now - is this normal?

Fellow EADDer has the same enquiry, would appreciate it if you can let me know it is all fine.

Having just logged out, I can also see that the box is ticked.

Wonder if the default has changed, or have they simply noticed this for the first time???

This is the new default. Members wishing to have this unchecked will need to do so manually

Why has the default been changed? What's the reasoning for doing so?

Surely the default should always be one that protects members to the best of our ability - in this case, to not store cookies locally unless the end-user consciously elects to do so?

I might predict a growing number of threads that complain about their accounts being 'hacked' when, in actuality, it is simply because they have unwittingly logged in on shared terminal without realising that the cookie default has changed. Although the onus is on the account user to end their session by logging out, we all know that people don't always behave in that way - either by absent-mindedness or accident.

If the aim of changing the default was to avoid being continually logged out when writing a long post (a real irritant), would it not be possible to tweak the active login period to something more forgiving?

This has now been changed back to the way it was, i.e. default = unticked.
