about to see a new psych tomorrow and she wants me to sign release of information slips for my therapist, my outpatient program, my inpatient program, my current psych (who will be my ex psych after this appointment), a past psych, and my primary care physician (she said and any friends or family she should share info with, which is absurd). there's no way i'm signing all those releases, specifically not for my therapist or current psych (if this doesn't work i have to keep seeing him). i don't really want to sign a release for any of these people, and i've never had a psych request a release for anyone but insurance. that said, this person knows i just got out of outpatient dual-diagnosis that included substance abuse, and i need her to continue my currents scripts which includes ativan/lorazepam.
do you sign release of information papers for your psych? seems crazy to me. i don't want anyone to know i'm mentally ill. that's a liability. medical records are far from sacrosanct, being available to prosecutors and suing parties through subpoena, the government for gun control, and fuck knows who else. this is a private pay psych. why does anyone have to know i ever saw her. my insurance ensures i do not double up on meds.
