Reducing notifications

i sometimes get a lot of notifications from threads i don't really want to watch, and which eventueally lead me back to those threads even if i have unwatched the thread.

is this here

the setting i have to uncheck to avoid getting notifications forever only because i replied or reacted once to a post in a thread?
i know others have similar problems

Yeah, you should turn that off.

I only get notifications when someone reacts to one of my posts, quotes one of my posts, or tags me.

If I create a thread I uncheck the follow box.
