Tryptamines Red/brown DPT

Quick question.
Has anyone seen dipropyltryptamine that is dark red in color?
I know it is often pink tinged, but this is almost brown. It’s old, but came that color when ordered and came from a very reliable source. It’s not labeled as a salt, but doesn’t look like any freebase I’ve seen before and is a dry powder.
 
The only DPT I ever saw was pure white. However, I do remember people in this forum talking about red DPT from Canada. I think the general consensus was it was good. But I have no way to have the context to say that myself. I just remember people talking about it here and was glad mine wasn’t red lol. One thing I learned here is color isn’t always an indication of purity.

Doses are all over the board for people. 35 mg and I have to hold on for about an hour and a half and feel reborn when I come out to the other side. Almost like I really did die and felt reborn. It is incredibly potent stuff.

I have had brown DPT HCl. I believe it was manufactured by a Canadian chemical supply company reptilian chemists.
I don’t remember it being at all red though.

And i have had DPT that was white. Color is not a reliable indicator. Brown mescaline is often just white mescaline where the chemist used too much muriatic acid in a cleanup step.

It's always good to check your drugs with kits or send them off for analysis
 
I have a red-brown batch as well as a pure white one. It could have been the same one that @arrall is talking about, from over 10 years ago, a reliable Canadian vendor. I used that red-brown (cinnamon) batch and it worked fine, not any noticeable difference vs. the white batch. I think there was a note from the producer saying that it was fine, just looked a bit funny, for what that's worth. It could be that your batch is red-brown for a different or the same reason. It could be the same batch even.

I really like DPT, it's heavy and a good reset.

yaeh, I have that, DPT HCL, its pink and mauve ,
 
I can't speak for DPT but with DMT I've noted that unless stored in appropriate conditions it will form the N-oxide. It would seem only a small amount of the N-oxide is able to discolour a sample and in my experience, it went brown.

I was always cautious about DMT having witnessed a dealer cutting it with the cheaper and more potent 5-MeO DMT. This was the guy who turned up at Kokopelli around 2000-2001. A friend even sold him the 5MeO-DMT on the basis that he found it to be 'awful' and wanted rid. I have a theory that quite a few people make 5MeO-DMT, try it and decide it's not great so the supply outstrips the demand hence the cut.

I always thought the DMT-oxide issue was finally debunked. I could be wrong, but wouldn’t it take a lot of work to turn DMT into DMT- oxide? I do think these simple tryptamines are among the most stable.

Well, we ran a sample through the GC-MS instrumentation and there was a new peak that matched the mass of the N-oxide. Now we didn't NMR the sample but we couldn't think of an alternative that would add the mass of a single oxygen.

When it was produced it was a very clean white amorphous solid. It was kept in a freezer but we hadn't used a dry nitrogen blanket on the basis that we would use it long, long before degradation would be an issue. Then some other stuff took away our free time. In was only when clearing out said freezer that we even remembered it was there.

It still worked fine, but it was more the fact that we had a nice pure product and failed to store it properly that was a bit annoying.

Thanks for the details. Interesting. It does seem that if it is truly DMT oxide that forms it may be indistinguishable from DMT, at least in terms of effects.

I appreciate the clarity. :)

I have had the same DPT for almost 20 years. It is still white and 35 mg annihilates me.
 
Yeah - of all the tryptamines I've sampled, DPT is most certainly one of if not the best.
