Reading while high

anyone ever try to get some reading done while high? what were the results?
 
i used to read a lot of novels high in the summer, when all we had was a computer with DVD's and no TV

Amazing fun reading stuff like Jack Kerouac and Irvine Welsh
Also read some other good books, some "what if?" historical novels and also a great book called Lamb: The Gospel According To Biff
 
It depends i usually find it hard to concentrate only if what i'm reading is really boring. However if you find something that's interesting it can be great. I really enjoyed reading the book Go Ask Alice while stoned it was great, also any books by the great Hunter S. Thompson, Tom Wolfe, and Edgar Allan Poe are great too.
 
Depends what you are reading and how high you are.

Reading Economic bulletins is fucken deadly while stoned, its so incredibly boring and each paragraph must be re-read 85 times.

Reading Bluelight while high is excellent, you can understand it no matter how fucked you are. Anything else that is interesting, can also be read easily. School texts and other forced reading is a cunt imho. Id rather read it, then get high afterwards.
 
i can read things, just really slowly, when i'm high....it partially depends on the strain...
 
I like to read webcomix while high, or watch movies, because it's easier to concentrate on images than it is to on words. However, I've found comic books interesting- Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, the Sandman, the Punisher, to name a few. On some occasions, with exceptional books (Fear and Loathing, Hitchhiker's Guide, DeLint's Newford Stories) I can imagine the events in the books much more vividly while high than while not.
 
I find that anything by Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club and Choke, to name a few) is a great read while stoned. I also enjoyed reading The World According to Garp while high occasionally. Actually, I just finished up my reading of Virginia Woolf's essays for the night, which was...interesting, to say the least.
 
I can't read when I'm stoned . full stop !

even if it is incredibly interesting .. i normally can't focus .. and read the text withought actually taking it in to my brain ! .... that isn't to say that I haven't read pages and pages of lord of the rings ... and then stopped, looked back over pages .... and realised I didn't even read it !!
 
TIHKAL and PIHKAL were incredible stoned reading material, the Shulgins are great. I'm presently working my way through a bunch of Hunter S. Thompson
 
I'm with mr.p on this one. Unless I'm really interested in the material, and sometimes even if I am, I usually just end up skimming words for an hour or so and then realizing I haven't retained a single thing. Also I wear contacts, and when I smoke, they dry up right along with my eyes and everything becomes blurry - after that reading is just a headache waiting to happen.
 
scifi is even better to read when stoned.

the only problem is sometimes i am so impressed by an idea that i think about it and realize i haven't actually paid attention to the last two paragraphs i've been scanning.. oh well, it's still fun!
 
lol im sure we all have the problem of getting to the end of a page and thinking "fuck! I took none of that in!". Its so easy to get side-tracked. Funnily enough I only have the problem with books, computer screens are ok :)

xxx while high, often this may indicate drug culture material.
 
Yeah man. I tell you what, a great book to read whilst high is "The Beach" by Alex Garland. (He wrote the story for 28 Days Later too). Th Beach is brilliant when mashed. If you've seen the film you can imagine and visualise Richard's world and the Island so much more vividly. Plkus there are things in the book which aint in the film.
 
it depends on how stoned i am. when im really high it's hard for me to pay attention to the book im reading. and usually a computer screen will hurt my eyes if i focus too much
 
it depends on what i'm reading.

if i'm not interested in it, then forget it, no way will i pay attention to that shit.

even if i am interested, i get distracted so easily when high that it can get kinda difficult.
 
dude im so fucking hight riht now, omg

and i can read this fine, i lose concentration often tho... hahaha

i love reading/studying while high, it makes it bearable and the info is easily obtained since i am open minded when high
