RCs RC Beta blockers

I highly doubt it but you can purchase your standard beta blockers from online pharmacies, afaik beta blockers are fairly un-regulated to the extent of other medications. Check your countries laws before placing any orders though...

Yeah, that's what I thought. It would be a very niche market. I was thinking of it for occasional stage fright.

I'm fairly sure that you could find a doctor willing to prescribe them to you if you don't mind asking around a bit.

How bad is your stage fright?
stage fright can be used to your advantage sometimes....adrenaline can sort of sharpen up your reactions - and feeling nervous can be a very natural response to certain things.
I find I play music differently onstage than I do in a rehearsal room, for example. I guess this probably isn't useful for other kinds of stage fright.
.
What sort of stage are you taking to?

Definitely not, and even if they did, what's the point?

A beta-blocker is the first thing a doc would prescribe for anxiety. I don't mean this quite literally, but no doctor would say no to prescribing Propranolol/Atenolol ?

It's fucking bad. It's for public speaking and my mind blanks when I get to the podium. Etizolam doesn't help with this and diclazepam is too mind numbing and too heavy on the muscle relaxant properties for me.

I don't think beta-blockers are your answer if that's your problem, they address the physical symptoms of anxiety (ie, keeping a musician or surgeon's hands from shaking so they can perform better) but they aren't going to help you relax mentally, except in the sense that it's easier to be calm when your hands aren't shaking and your heart isn't pounding.

beta blockers do have a small impact on mental state just because theres less to worry about if you not wigging out physically (twitching etc)

ive found them useful for oral presentations and things bcus i have anxiety

i think if someone practices public speaking and uses beta blockers thats probably the best you can do without dulling your mind with an opiate or benzo or something

also beta blockers are the it drug for stage fright ... a beer would do nothing for me in that situation

then again.. if your resorting to RC beta blockers because you are afraid to see a doctor, it might not do the trick like crankinit said

Yeh, I'd talk to a dr.
Beer is a bad idea - my frame of reference is as a musician - and booze fucks with my hand-eye coordination.
I don't get stage fright any more - but unlike lots of public speakers, I love being onstage - and have been doing it for 10+yrs.

It sounds like an absolutely genuine affliction that is getting in the way of you doing what you need to do.
Stage fright is extremely common, and I'm sure there is an accepted medical treatment for helping you through it - and maybe if you had a bit of (medicated) help for a few public speaking engagements, it would help your confidence and allow you to work towards getting comfortable with the whole experience.
I've done public speaking as well, and personally found it a matter of time and experience in conquering the panic response - nerves are a fairly natural response, but if they're getting in the way of you doing what you need to do - it would be something a good dr could probably help with, unless you absolutely cannot afford to seek medical treatment?
Just tell them someone gave you a Xanax and it didnt help, and see what sort of treatment options they offer.

I've actually heard of a band taking beta blockers onstage to conquer their stage fright...so it's not unheard of. There are no RC beta blockers -on the market that I've heard of...I'd be very hesitant to recommend anything else, except maybe doing some reading about nootropics though. I wouldn't advise phenibut, as it can make you feel quite drunk and detached, which is not what you want.

Good luck, NLH

Excellent post by spacejunk, not more else I can add. <3

??? Beta blockers for stage fright? Just have a beer lol

Would not recommend depending on what they have to do. :P

I have social anxiety and got talked into doing an open mic night - the only way I could manage it was getting a good few drinks first. I played good and got the whole bar singing to a song at one point, but in 2 songs I also forgot my words. I just told them why I forgot on the mic and they took it well as a joke and laughed along.

Thanks for all the support and replies. Unfortunately, I do not have a doctor;nor can I afford to go to one at the time. I have been prescribed xanax and a few different anti-depressants in the past when I had insurance but I no longer work the job that included the insurance. I need something for my public speaking class as I am extremely nervous awaiting my turn even while others are speaking. My mind completely blanks when i get to the podium, I stumble over my words, read everything off the paper, and my professor grades really harshly despite my very apparent, anxiety problems. I already mentioned etizolam doesn't help. I would try diclazepam as it has stronger muscle relaxant properties on me but I'm afraid it numbs the mind even more than etizolam. I would have a beer but it's a school setting and she mentioned the first day of class that people have came in drunk or high on xanax and said to be supportive of people with anxiety as some never graduate because they can't complete this class and that anxiety is a very real problem. I understand where those people are coming from and I feel she is a bit hypocritical when she says be supportive based on the grade I received on my very first speech.

If its one time, can you not get a RC benzo? Goes against HR but, one time wouldn't hurt.
