Taking inspiration from the "Rate the song above you" thread and ChemicalSmiles's comments, I've decided to create a "Rate the mix above you."
The Rules:
1. Please only post 1 mix to be rated
2a. Please rate the mix directly above you
2b. If somebody beats you to a rating of the mix above you, the second person must change their post to fit the new person above that.
3. Please include a short description (artist, genre, event etc ) of the mix.
4. Try and provide mixes that are officially released for free distribution by the artists.
5. Try and provide soundcloud links for your mixes. If you are providing download links, make sure that the file is in mp3 format.
6. Your mix should be at least 30 minutes in length.
7. Please post mixes by other artists. Your own mixes go here.
8. Don't always post mixes from the same artists or mixes of the same genre. Variety is a beautiful thing.
Let me start:
Max Cooper - Reflections/Contortions
Genre: Techno, Minimal, Deep
Event: Gottwood festival
Comments: Just started listening to this mix about half an hour ago. One of my friends gave me a link to this mix. She usually only listens to really good music.
I have to say I am pretty impressed by this mix so far. It's techy, but still very deep. Some really nice melodies that contrast well with the techno elements. It's definitely a very cerebral mix that gets into your head. It isn't super energetic in the sense that it makes you want to go crazy on the dancefloor (I am listening to it at home), but it definitely has a certain bouncy, "deep" energy to it. The second half of the mix is a bit more groovy and upbeat. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys cerebral minimal techno.
