Quick question about Buspar

Sup everyone LTL here finally registered. I recently got prescribed Buspar for my anxiety, and to believe it or not it seems to be helping already. I was wondering if its safe to drink while taking it? Also, mainly, can I take some opiates while on it? Im able to control myself with them thank god. As far as I know I just want some clarification before I take some so I don't have a panic attack and freak out about a bad interaction lol. So just those 2 questions basically. Thanks. Obviously move if not in the right place, seems like it is tho. Thanks

Its crazy but I actually felt relief on the first day which makes me think it was a placebo type thing going on. But I have been taking it for about a week. Its suppose to take about 2 or 3 weeks to get the full effect. No longer in class is my heart racing, not all sweaty and shit, rather calm. So far so good. Def. would try it before getting benzos.
 
Yeah that's good. My bf is just starting it today. From what I read you should see some effect within 1 week, and it can continue increasing for 6 weeks. So you're off to a good start!
 
Yea well if the thread doesnt get to old, which it will, let me know how it works out for him.

When I was on buspar I found it didn't interact with drinking nearly as much as benzo type anxiety medicine. Still, obviously when you're on medication, moderation in drinking is always best.
 
^ Yeah, better safe than sorry. I know I drank more than that on them, but it did make me loopier than drinking alone, and not in any sort of good way.

Also, in general if you have anxiety, drinking often isn't the most helpful thing in the world. It's nice and all when you're doing it, but the after effects make my anxiety lots worse the next day.

I've heard, and personally experienced, nothing but negative side-effects that actually made my Anxiety worse also!
I got headaches, stomach pains and nausea from it. And, as I was taking it alongside Mirtazapine, one of them abolished my fear of death and the other made me suicidal from day 1 of taking them :(

So I stopped taking them after the 3rd day of the same shit. Literally 30mins after taking them I'd start to get intense suicidal ideation - Asking my friends to forget me so I could kill myself n stuff :| Not nice.

So yea, I'm really glad that it's working out for you NomeGrown :)
And I wish the same for yer b/f abracadabra girl ;)
 
Thats great that buspar works for you and since it worked the first week you should get even better results by week 6. Buspar didnt work at all for me, it gave me very weird side effects and seizures. It was scary...good luck

That is just insanse. Crazy how much of a difference it can have on different people.
The doc said either Buspar of Effexor, and right when i heard her say effexor I was like woah. I was shocked since all of the bad shit I heard about it. Is that strange she even brought up that possibility? If she told me to take that over the Buspar I would not have even taken it. Everything I have read about it has a warning about increased suicidal thoughts and what not. I think thats weird she brought it up.
 
Again though, meds are subjective. Effexor has helped many people and you never know, it might have helped you. But it seems you made the right choice as the withdrawals from Effexor are a beeyatch! :$

Yea I really don't even like the fact that I am on meds now, especially since I have never been prescribed anything like this before. But my dad says if its helping, just take it. I wish I could just smoke dank all day instead lol. God I hate drug testing for employment. Also, it is okay to take benadryl while taking it right? I usually take it with some opiates every once in a while. I just need to make sure cuz something like that could send me into panic.
 
Well, I'm on Dosulepin (an SNRI) and have taken Diphenhydramine (which has SSRI properties, though fairly weak I think) on it before and had no adverse reactions :)
As long as you keep the dosage low you should be fine. But if you feel dodgy about it then just go without the Diphen :)

Alright thanks. I think the last panic attack I had was induced from taking naproxen for my knee pain cause a while ago a pharmacist said it was related to ibuprofen, and when I was little, I took ibuprofen, and broke out it hives, coincidence? And have not taken it since. But then my doc said the 2 meds are not related so idunno why I got told the wrong thing by that pharmacist. Crazy that something like that made me freak out lol.
