can drug dogs smell cannabis seeds? i understand that the seeds would likely have some sort of odor residue from the plants they came from or the environment they came from, but barring that do seeds have their own smell dogs are trained to pick up on?

Would it be safe to "wash" the seeds to remove any odor from an outside smell, any technique for this?

what if the seeds were harvested and have been off the plant for 6+ months?

thanks :)

Not too sure, but just to let you know.
Dogs have a nose 100 000 times more powerful than us.
One study showed that a fingerprint left on a piece of perspex, left out in the weather for 2 weeks was still recogniseable by the dog. Ie...he assosciated it with the specific person.
This wasnt a drug dog...but a dog nonetheless. Just goes to show the power of a dogs nose.
You gotta feel sorry for a dog who doesnt like the smell of shit, huh?

Interesting question. I wonder whether you might have a problem with the seeds germinating because of the exposure to the water if you tried to wash them. Especially if the idea was to wash them and then post them etc (long time to planting)...

I wonder if something like iso alcohol might do the trick? The dogs would definitely be able to smell unwashed seeds, because they can literally smell the different chemical composition of various things and get the same sensations that we might get if we were looking at different shapes and colors (i.e. a high level of detail). Although I don't know how concerned they'd be with seedy type smells, they're probably trained to smell actual bud more than anything else. Someone correct me if i'm wrong here, I'm just thinking and typing.

I reckon they could do things like interpolating the smell difference between long chain and short chain molecules, and have a very intuitive map of what the volatile (smellable) chemicals were. Anyway i digress...

I remember one day having some weed with a friend, and we were outside in his back yard standing up to have a smoke, and the dog kept coming right up to us, wanting to jump on us (in a very friendly way) even up to 5 minutes after we'd had a smoke. I think he really liked it!

Didn't the seed come out of a nug though? So wouldn't it smell like bud? Or have residue on it?

^MY DOG FOLLOWS THE BLUNT AROUND THE ROTATION...
