Opioids Questions about imodium for withdrawal does anybody have experience with it?

Hi i've been using imodium for kratom withdrawal but I read some pretty mixed information on it I'm wondering if anybody could help me out with these questions please.

First of all does Imodium just delay all the withdrawal? I find it weird that it gives no high and supposedly has no central effect but stops the entire mental part of withdrawal along with the physical.

Secondly how long does the stuff actually last? I took my first dose(20mg) last night but I only want to use it for the first couple of days. How often did you redose when using it? Its hard to find an accurate answer on how long it lasts.

Its hard to find an accurate answer on how long it lasts.

It's not really possible to give an accurate answer because there are so many variables involved from person to person. E.g. What opiate/opioid the person is withdrawing from, the doses they were taking, the length of time they were using, the user's body weight and metabolism, etc. For those reasons there is always going to be mixed info.

I've used loperamide out of desperation a handful of times and it can help in some ways but also has its limits. I personally don't like some of the side-effects I get from it after a few days of use (such as extreme lethargy which is even worse than the regular WD tiredness, mild difficulty breathing and always feeling out of breath).

This is an important question. Loperamide can and will have its own WDs, so in a sense it is delaying the withdrawal rather than just negating it. It depends on how strong the opiate you were using is. As you are using it to combat kratom WDs, I'd suggest using as little as possible for as short a time as possible - if at all. Loperamide lasts waaaaayyyy longer than kratom, so it could just extend the shittiness of the whole experience needlessly.

Personally I would say tapering the kratom and then just jumping off would be the best way, but I understand you probably don't feel like hearing that right now!

Good luck with it all.

I posted about a study here showing the effectiveness of loperamide taken with a PPI drug such as omeprazole or lanzoprazole. I used lanzoprazole with 2mg lope three times a day when off codeine and it helped to a 8/10 degree. Sleep wasn't great still but everything else was very much more manageable than CT.

from what i recall, imodium binds to the opioids receptors in your stomach but not your brain, providing "slight" relief

edit: for my withdrawals, it was effective at taking a bit of the edge off
