putting coke on aluminum foil with baking soda and then smoking it...? What's that ?

This may seem like a naive Q to some but I saw some people doing it at a party the other night... never seen this before...

Chemically, how does this change what the coke is...

Technically isn't baking soda plus coke plus cooking it and smoking it ...crack?

If so then mods please move my thread to SLR so I can retrieve advice on how I ended up hanging out with a coke/crack smoking crowd.

(sorry if I offended anyone who's done/is doing the stuff...)

i always thot the baking soda just made the coke stick together like a rock. didn't know it had different effects

Its called freebasing. I don't know the mechanics to it but it changes Cocaine HCL to Cocaine freebase. You do this because its more effective than smoking the HCL but no its not crack but very similar. Yet at the same time coke and crack are similar because they are the same drug. Can't really provide much more info because I never really looked into crack.
