They're nice for novelty sake but my people and I are always raggin on the cats that came through & see a purple cola and wet themselves over it. Usually people(in legal states)try payin extra on bags & go ape shit over broken down chlorophyll..

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!?!?! Is Bag appeal Really that powerful or is it just the mass is really that dumb?

Whats your take.

Purple/dark buds indicate Indica strains. Frosty/light colored buds with fruity scents indicate Sativa strains.

Indicas are good for pain management and are used to alleviate stress and induce sleep.

Sativas are better for overcoming nausea and inducing hunger, while maintaining functionable states of consciousness.

Cannabis smokers tend to label Indicas as the better choice (versus Sativa) for those who suffer from anxiety disorders.

I feel it to depend more on what type of anxiety disorder an individual suffers from, as there are many types.

For example, I suffer from Panic Disorder, and I much prefer Sativas for reason being that I find my thoughts to flow much easier with sativa strains, and if I cannot think straight (Indicas produce more of a narcotic effect), I am more likely to slip into a state of panic.

Those who suffer from more debilitating disorders such as Schitzophrenia, may be better off to not smoke cannabis of either type, as it may act as a trigger for psychotic episodes.

I believe it is different for those who suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, which is what most people are referring to when they speak of 'Anxiety', in which an Indica strain is likely a better choice.

While I laugh about people who go on about the purps and all of the mislabeling that goes on with them and "kush", I do think the high end market is about bag appeal (or marketing) over almost anything else, right or wrong. How else can you explain the market for $25 and $30 grams when you can pick up the same strain for half that or weed that's "technically" equivalent (say same thc % ) for a quarter or less of the cost. High end weed is as much a status symbol as anything else now imo.

I completely disagree. I suffer from Panic Disorder, and I much prefer Sativas for reason being that I find my thoughts to flow much easier with sativa strains, and if I cannot think straight, I am more likely to slip into a state of panic.
i agree 100% with this statment. LAND RACE IT UP! You'll thank me in liike 24weeks after you 12/12 LOL.

This is so if not way too true. I noticed this several years ago when people wouldn't stop "sucking dick" figuratively over a single sack of trainwreck.

stop right there, thats complete bullshiat, Purple comes from genetics and temperatures, doesn't matter if its Sat or Indy leaning, i've had both turn purple with cold night time temps.

Indicas can be fruity, and also extremely light collored or frosty.

I have some c99 x ogka going right now that is done at 60 days (nearly pure indica), and it taste more fruity than any Sativa I've ever had.

^^ it can vary, there are some strains that are just naturally more purple, combined with lower growing temps....

But yea you can have purple sativa, i have smoked it, and it tasted like fucking grape...

The thing about purp is that it always seems to be very good genetics and grown by a very skilled hand....I loaded up the onie for bassnectar and let random friends hit the pipe through the night.... 1 good hit of that shit and your baked....

purp seems to have a taste that can vary a lot from slightly piney to grape...

man theres so many differernt strains of purp. but were im at the purps have a very distinct smell and taste and get you lit as fuk.! to some people its the hype. but for people that know different stains can tell whether its genetic purps or the leaves turn slight purple due to cold ect..

Not true at all.

It varies greatly because that guideline is BS. I get lemony or berry indicas all the time and some of the better known purple strains are Sativa, not indica. Deep chunk, purple haze anyone?

EDIT: And yes, the origional "Purple haze" is long gone, but original haze still throws out purple phenotypes.

Correct, you can make almost ANY strain purple by simply lowering the temperature during the budding stage (I've seen it turn out blue/purple) people see this and go NUTS because it's a different color =D

You could have standard hydro and make it purple if you know what you are doing, it's all about timing and the correct temperature level.

I heard that orange hairs=Unhealthy buds, and if they are yellow hairs it= healthy buds. Is that true in some cases, or is that more strain dependant?

In order for the buds to turn purple upon lowering of temperature don't they need a certain genetic code for the pigmentation? how common is this gene? also i belived purple= dank usually because the same strains that have the gene for purple have a high cannibinoid concentration.

Here in the midwest, purps is a hype...I've only had one really good batch of purple weed here. However, a trip out to the west coast showed me that there is some really quality purple weed out there.

Plus it looks beautiful and the smell and taste of good purple bud is..well, purple. And trust me that taste is addicting as hell.

Sounds pretty false. I've smoked some killer bud that was covered in red and orange hairs. They looked like little strawberries.

I'm sure in some cases it could be bad, like if you are trying to grow something that normally wouldn't have red or orange hairs, lol.

purps is all hype. i have had great weed that tasted like purple weed but it was yet to turn. Delicious. I think the purple is a nice perk but ill take some dank green if it looks better to me over some purple if i have a choice.

Almost any as in those with the genetic potential which ime isnt nearly almost any.

False, yellow hair sounds immature meaning less potency.

A personal favorite on behalf of bag appeal clearly exhibited orange, pink, , purple/red and finally and blackerish/blue on different sections. Twas gifted from the gods, a rainbow wonder from a friends outdoor sesh. The strain was some crazy bag seed from hawiian buds he claimed. It had bent over half way through so im sure stress had added to the discoloration.

i say 85% or something of the time the bud is purple from reasons mentioned above, but there are strains that are purple/pupleish naturally; purpeana, purple power, durban poison etc.

it doesnt influence my decision on purchasing, the last purple bud i had was disappointing, as far as the high, but was high in analgesic properties. it worked very well mixed in a spliff with other buds that leaned more towards the sativa side, so i was able to stay awake and feel less siatic nerve pain.

My dealer buddy used to store his bags in a deep freezer- home made purp! not the most ethical, but hey his customers were idiots and they paid the premium just to get some "purp" lol although this same friend stored his shit with orange peels to add weight and make it "Cali-O" a couple year earlier when that was the rage. No one ever caught on to either "treatment" - glad I was his friend and got the un-fucked-wit stuff!
