Pulled muscle

heating pad :) and ibuprofen

or a body back buddy. its like $30 and you can work your trigger points through massage, and it helps relieve muscular pain TREMENDOUSLY. you can also do it with just a tennis ball or any kind of massager, but this thing is incredibly and i highly recommend. i use it almost everyday.

For the initial injury, use a cold compress. As it gets better it will feel stiff. At this point you can apply heat and do very light stretching. If you feel ANY pain while stretching, stop. Avoid using that muscle group until it heals.

There are many topical preparations out there. Some people prefer things like A535. I prefer arnica cream myself. The topical preparation will matter less than proper rest of the muscle group while it heas.

as long as it's just a pulled muscle (and has been a few days since the initial injury), doing a light exercise that involves that muscle group will lead to a quicker recovery than complete rest. swimming laps is my go-to when i'm sore or hurting, but anything low impact that gets you moving will do.
