So this is my first time mixing poppy pod tea and Benzedrex (propylhexedrine). I've done pods many times since my first experience in July of '08 and Benzedrex only 2 times prior to this, but had never taken both on the same day until now.
While opinions are mixed on Benzedrex, it's the only stimulant I have access to and I like it pretty well, provided the dose is not too large (below 50 mg. per dose). I keep my propyl use to once a month, while I use pods anywhere from daily to once a week. When I have my "Bennie Days", I forget all about the pods and tend to get very sleepy as withdrawals set in (though I never realized that's what was making me tired until now).
Anyway, once I thought to have a few sips of tea with my Benzedrex, the tiredness was completely obliterated...and so was I. "A few sips to prevent withdrawals" turned into quite a large dose for me pretty quickly, though.
Here's a rundown of the set/setting, dose, mindset, and other info in short version:
Setting: A party at a suite on the 33rd floor of one of my city's swankiest hotel/casinos. Probably about 30-40 guests in attendence. The nicest hotel room I've ever had the privelege of experiencing...some real celebrity-type shiz. In-room steam room, hot tub, fully stocked bar, Jetson-esque gadgets, the works
Dose: Benzedrex--25-50 mg. liquid (water, lemon juice, inhaler contents).
Poppy tea--1 large glass made from 2 "jumbo" pods.
Mood: A tad cranky going into it. I get nervous around large groups of people, and I couldn't find anything to wear. Other than that, I was well-rested, had a full stomach, and felt pretty good.
~~And now for the TRIP!~~
I dosed all the Benzedrex I was going to take BEFORE leaving the house and took the poppy tea with me in a non-transparent container. As my friend and I got on the road, I put my ipod on and started chugging the tea. I started feeling the effects hardcore within minutes--my mood improved drastically, the music sounded better than ever, and I finally experienced those famous "skin tingles" Benzedrex users talk about. My arms and legs were covered in goose bumps and my scalp kept getting little "rushes" of tingles, as if the blood was rushing to the surface of my skin, increasing my sensitivity tenfold.
I kept chugging the tea every time we hit a stoplight, hoping to be adequately relaxed/high by the time we got to our destination. My friend and I talked excitedly and laughed about everything, totally forgetting the bad parts of the day. The music seemed to really feed into my high, giving me a happy, uplifted feeling. I had all the heavy, stoned feelings of poppy tea with a little boost of energy from the inhaler, which could've been unpleasant if it hadn't synergized so well.
Once at the hotel, we had a long walk ahead of us. This normally would've gotten me out of breath and tired, but I managed it pretty well. Upon entering the room I was shocked at how nice everyone looked, the size and quality of the suite, and how "exclusive" the whole thing seemed. It took a minute to get acclimated to my surroundings, but the tea definitely helped. The more I drank, the more I opened up and the less overwhelmed I felt.
(((As someone with Asperger's Syndrome and anxiety that often causes me to just say "fuck it" and stay at home while others go out and have fun, any relief at all is pretty significant. It's like a catch-22: either stay home in seclusion, avoiding the stress of socializing but feeling lonely and sad; or brave the crowds, pretending to feel comfortable and coming home utterly exhausted from the tension, but having eased the loneliness somewhat. Opiates have helped me deal with this more effectively, even when I'm not on them...just being able to channel that happy, warm mental state when I need to helps a lot.)))
Anyway, the night was a success! There was every kind of alcohol you could imagine, but not being a big drinker myself I just sipped my tea all night and was good. At one point, my friend, her co-worker and I excused ourselves to go lay on the (huge) bed and talk for a while. When we got up to go to the bathroom, everyone was GONE! (The guy had given us a key and told us to stay if we wanted, as he was moving the party to a club where Method Man was performing). We had the room to ourselves and took full advantage of it, eating the food, watching tv, and enjoying the incredible view of the city. I was still sipping my tea, but had slowed down somewhat. After 4 hours, we decided to clean up and leave. We took the long way to the car, exploring the beautiful landscape surrounding the hotel (their faux "beach", pools, fountains, etc.) It was very cold out and I had no jacket, but I wasn't bothered by it at all, probably because of the poppy tea keeping me "warm" lol.
To conclude, I just want to say that these two substances are pretty great on their own, but are really enjoyable when taken together (provided you don't have a huge opiate/stimulant tolerance). I was in a great mood, felt comfortable in a crowd, and had an awesomely energized opiate high that lasted about 7 hours. I even made a new friend! I can see this combo being good for times when you want to be high but not LOOK high, like school or work, where nodding out would be inappropriate; weekends at home, and of course, social get-togethers and parties.
If I had to sum up the feeling using only a few adjectives, I'd call it "tingly", "alert", "cozy", "heavy", "confident", "energetic", and "uplifting". A lovely combo indeed.
Until next time, and :D
