Ok so im having problems staying in a vein. Im inexperienced and my hand isn't so steady. I know about keeping everything sterile. My question is how to steady yourself. For example bending your arm 90 degrees, using your forearm for support while injecting into the crook of your arm. Im also scared of hitting a tendon by going in to far as im slim, but the further the needle penatrates the easier it is to steady yourself right?

Are you using short tip or long tip (12.7mm) needles? Since you're new to the game & slim, short tips will probably be your best bet. Can't tell from your post, but if you can find a way to comfortably place your non-dominant arm (the injection site) on a counter or similar, then do that to steady yourself a bit. Practise using saline/water, so you don't waste any drugs. You might find it helpful to pierce the skin, pull back on the plunger, go deep until it registers, then press the plunger down. I've never heard of anyone hitting a tendon.

You might not need to tie off, but if you do the vein will swell, causing a bigger target. It's advised to remove the tourney before injecting, but it's easier to leave it in. However, it's not good practise to adopt, because of the pressure it places on the vein.

Thanks bob. Ill try on my desk. Ive been restricted to using 25G with a 1inch tip i think.
Ill be getting some 27G short tips hopefully. As for tying off, ill get my friend to squeeze my bicep. Thanks for the info.

lol, i always get to scared to loosen my belt when i hit a vein cuz im afraid ill come out the vein or it will roll..i stay tied during the whole push..i sort of have no choice

27g is pretty big, I usually use 29 or 30g. Pull back when your in the middle of a shot to make sure your still in, also if it hurts that means your missing

i have issues using anything above 28...i always get paranoid that the needle is too tiny any hollow that my skin plugs the tip making me think im not in my vein when i really am, causing frusteration

30G required too much pressure to register and inject, for me anyway. I think i have abit of fear of the needle, from past experiences. With the right gear and patience, ill hopefully succeed.
Thanks everyone.

So i injected a low dose of 30mg of meth or ice, missed half the shot. The abcess is noticable, slight burning sensation its been 10 minutes since the shot and it hasn't noticable shrunk. Help please? Meth impurities shouldn't be a concern right?

I'm no expert on missed shots when it comes to meth, however I'm sure someone who is more knowledgeable in this area will chime in. If things get really bad, get off the computer and seek professional medical attention straight away. Either way let us know how you're doing.

Also, when new to IV use in general, it's safe practice to have a friend present who's well versed in the area, that way misses are less likely to happen, and if things go south quick you aren't all alone.

The best, and hope to hear it improves. <3

Good post bob

You also extend your arm fully to hit the main anrebrachial vein in the crook of your elbow. You are going to deep into the vein.

Feel out the vein with your finger, gauge where the vein is with sight and touch, envision where the vein runs. Go into your skin with confidence, but this doesny mean to go gung ho and jam the needle in with force lol. Go in just to penetrate the vein just below the skin, pull back, and if no blood cones into the barrel, then go in slightly deeperel.. oif you register you r barrell with be filler with blood without pulling back again, then you release tourni if you have one, pull back slightly tommake sure you are still in, push down 10-15 units, and pull back again to make sure you are still in and then push the plunger all the way down. If you dint get blood, pull out and try a new spot.

You should know you are in the vein because it should be easy to push the plunger down and ir wint hurt

Thanks. Next time this happens get a towel, run it under a hot faucet & hold it tight where you missed. This will help the drugs get absorbed, thereby reducing the inflammartion & tenderness. If it's still swollen, then go ahead and do this. Keep an eye on it the next few days. It should get smaller, normal coloured, and go away completely by day 2 or 3. If it gets worse go get medical attention. Do not keep waiting & watching it get worse. It takes antibiotics to get rid of an abscess; don't turn it into a hospital visit.

31 g, 5/16 inch, 1 ml. this is my go to needle and everyone who I've recommended it to has never looked back. you don't have to worry about poking through the vein, just push the needle in.

Yeah I like the short tips for that reason. Perfect for the more shallow veins like the ones in your hands and wrists, and the 31G doesn't leave a massive track mark like a 28 or 29.

I prefer shorts unless I know it's something like coke & I'm going to be doing a decent amount of shots in a night or I've been on a nice little run. Then they just won't get the job done.

I also use a pillow ot rest my arm on and make sure that the arm I'm holding the needle with can rest on the pillow, while I other hand I'm shooting in is elevaed by the pillow. Don't know if that would help everyone, but it works really well for me. Except for all my pillows have blood on them. I have one black pillow that is designated my "shooting pillow" haha. Also, needle size makes a difference. What gauge are you using? I find the smaller needles (29's) are easy to hold still.

how the fuck ??? the shorts ARE SOO OFUCKING HARD TO PULL BACK ON !!! l

also they were oral syringes and i made a janky syringe. i took the needle off of someone elses needle and placed it on the syringe i used for butt plugging... LOL jkk this is really not safe....

as couple others mentioned...would DEFINITELY go with the 'short tips' (31 gauge / 8mm ) ... and i dont know if this is considered 'improper' technique or not, but i sometimes find it easier to go at the vein from an angle, like from the side, and rather than piercing the skin with the needle at a 90 degree angle, i usually go somewhere around 45 degrees or so, that way...when i get the needle in as far as it can...chances are good that i am in the vein, rather than pushing through the far side, which can occur if going at a 90 degree angle. having it in as far as possible will also help in steadying it and making sure you are in the vein, and STAY in while doing your thing...if needle is only halfway in or whatever, chances are good that while you are pushing the liquid out, the needle will move up or down, increasing the chances of leaving the vein.

and again, as few other posts mentioned...you will definitely notice if you are missing your shot or not. it will burn or, more often in my case...you will start to see a lump rapidly forming where the injection site is. if hitting on target, you should feel no discomfort, pain, resistance or anything like that..so if you DO feel one of those things, or see the lump forming...obviously you want to immediately stop and move to another site with what you have left in the syringe (thats also why i go slowly..so if i am missing..its less of the hit that 'misses' and goes to waste.

and one last comment...if youre new to shooting...you shouldnt even need to tie off as your veins are probably easily visible all up and down your arms and hands. there's definitely no going back either once youre shooting. i switched to dope about a year ago from pills..i always snorted the pills and for the first few months, the dope. but once the rush wasnt good enough anymore through the nose...turned to the needle...and yeah..DEF no going back from that, sad to say.

oh and lastly: switch up the spots you shoot...dont always use the same spot on your arm or hand.

good luck!
