Randomly purchased a bottle of procaine after I saw someone else picking one up at a local headshop... When I spoke with him outside before I purchased mine, he said it was a cocaine substitute around half the potency of cocaine, which piqued my interest. It's packaged in a typical pill bottle with net weight of 1/2 oz. I wish I would have done some research prior to getting it but it was an impulse buy. Now after looking around online it appears to be pretty much useless.

Anyone have any ideas on what the hell to do with it besides cutting coke with it (which I have zero interest in doing)? From what I've read people either try it as a substitute for coke or for cutting coke. I'm hoping I missed something interesting...
 
Procaine, also called novacaine, is commonly used in dentistry as a local anaesthetic (It's the stuff they shoot into your gums to make you completely numb.) Whoever told you procaine is a cocaine substitute with 50% potency was outright lying to you; it's not psychoactive. I've never heard of headshops selling procaine-I seriously hope you didn't pay cocaine prices for this stuff.

So, if you're looking for a practical use for this stuff, keep it in your medicine cabinet for if you get a toothache. (I had a raging tooth infection once, and the only relief I could get was by injecting lidocaine into my gums), although it would be safer to rub it onto your gums.

Also, it's a great cutting agent......
 
Interestingly, unlike lidocaine and cocaine, procaine is actually a vasodialator as opposed to a vasoconstrictor.

I read a paper a few years back that noted procaine's mood enhancing properties when administered intravenously. I'm not sure on the dosage, adverse side affects, nor how other ROAs might affect its absorption. Besides being useful for a toothache, it might be possible to take some sublingually/bucally/nasally if you are feeling blue to slightly calm you down. You'd definitely need to find some supporting literature before doing so. Go check it out on googlescholar and see where that gets you.

edit: also be sure you check to see if you are allergic before doing anything else with it.
 
Procaine is not a cocaine substitute, it's a local anesthetic and anti-arrhythmic drug. (Over-consumption of procaine can mess with heart rhythm, so snorting lines of it, injecting it, eating large amounts of it etc is not a smart move.)

It's useful as a topical painkiller for stuff like toothaches, sunburns, etc. but not recreational.
