I used to smoke a large amount of cannabis in high school and the first year or so of college. Back in those days I never got paranoid/anxious when I smoked. After taking a multi-year break I have started smoking occasionally. Often when I do so I get 'shakes' or 'tremors' or 'convulsions' -- not sure really what to call it but it is uncontrollable and uncomfortable when around others.

Is there anything I can do to prevent/quell these convulsions?

We're gonnna need a bit more info.
Does your consciousness change when u get these "shakes"? As in do you lose consciousness? Get foggy? etc?
Can you control the shakes? eg if you concentrate real hard you can decrease them
Do these convuslsions start somewhere and then spread?
Do they come on gradually or all at once?
What makes it better, what makes it worse?

etc etc. Throw as much info as u can

I have these too, I even have them when sober occasionally, but they're a lot worse when I smoke. I think it's something to do with my anxiety disorder though, I can feel perfectly calm, but I'm still overly conscious of my body, and it causes me to have twitches and shakes. Don't know really what to do about them, but I have found that I don't really get them anymore after taking either shrooms or E. That may just be because I haven't really smoked weed alone in awhile either, I don't know.... The only thing I ever found that helped, was to just try and focus on something else around me, and eventually it would subside at least a little bit. The more you focus on it, the worse it seems to get usually.

Supplement with magnesium

I get tremors sometimes when I'm high but I usually just go with it. It feels good to let the shakes come out and they usually don't last that long if I just let them come out, if I try to hide them/fight them off they can last a while longer...

Even small amounts do this to me sometimes. Actually I don't recall ever getting them when I am really really high (smoking in excess of one gram) it's usually with the smaller-average doses that it happens.

Sometimes I just go for a walk and that helps, I never shake if I'm doing something actively physical on the move like riding a bike/going for a run/going for a walk

edit: also check out this thread http://www.bluelight.ru/vb/showthread.php?t=405378 it's almost the same thing
