Prescription Refill Question (Canada)

Hi all, long time no see?

Not trying to get legal advice or anything here, just wondering how this works. I'm in Ontario. I had a prescription for Concerta which still has 1 refill left at my regular pharmacy. My doc switched my prescription at our visit and gave me three weeks of the new one so we can check in and see if it's working. For simplicity I just picked it up at the pharmacy (different company) by his office on the way out, because filling it at my regular pharmacy would've been like half an hour out of my way, and it's not like I'm worried about not being able to transfer a prescription that's for three weeks with 0 refills.

Is the doctor notified if I pick up my remaining Concerta refill? Would my benefits company flag it or something since I just filled my new medication? I mainly want it because I'm worried that he lowballed my starter dose of the new medication and I'd like to have the backup, but it also seems like a waste to let the refill expire, and hey, "free" meds.

Totally not worth causing a hassle over if anyone's going to give me the stinkeye about it, but this guy is impossible to get in with short of our next scheduled appointment, and changing medication always makes me nervous.
