Finding new lows.
Well I don't know where to start really, I was placed on prozac for depression a few weeks ago, I took it as prescribed (20mg daily) and for the first few days I noticed barely anything, zero appetite and my insomnia got a bit worse but nothing major. Then I forgot to take it for 2 or 3 days so I took 60mg at once, and within a few hours I felt like I'd been possessed, I was missing work and not caring, giving £100+ to beggars on the street, drinking stupid amounts and not caring at all, running in front of cars and screaming at them when they nearly hit me, within 5 minutes of meeting new people I either wanted to fuck them or beat the hell out of them, for no apparent reason. I went to a party on Friday night and took a couple of hits of DMT (which has never had any kind of super-hallucinogenic affect on me) and started talking to people that weren't there, trying to walk up the stairs to find it was a wall. I thought it was just some good shit at first, but it lasted for the next 3 or 4 days, I thought my house was being burgled and tried fighting off imaginary things, I thought there was a dog in my girlfriend's bed room. It started wearing off 2 or 3 days ago and looking back it seems like a Manic episode induced by SSRI, does anyone agree?

take your meds as prescribed.

A) it takes a while to build up enough of the drug in your system to take effect
B) if you miss doses, dont "get caught up" just continue as perscribed

^^ This, exactly.

Sprout, you really do need to adher to the prescribed method of taking your meds. If you miss doses, don't take any more than you are prescribed to make up for it, because that's not how SSRIs (and other psychiatric meds) work.

Coupled with what kaywholed said, during this period of time when your brain is restabilising to the prozac, you really should NOT be taking any recreational drugs. Any drugs you do indulge in are only going to mess with your brain's chemistry and cause nasty symptoms like what you experienced after the party.

Please be sensible and take care of yourself during the next few months, read the insert of the Prozac box, ask your doctor if you have any questions, and take your meds as prescribed. You only get one brain, you need to take care of it :) <3

Id say go talk to your doctor. You could be having a adverse reaction to the prozac and this can happen with any anti-depressant and the cause of this could be any number of things really. You shouldnt be taking DMT or any other drug that could negatively affect you if youre depression is bad enough that it has to be treated with a SSRI either. Also prozac and other SSRI's are known to block the effects of tyrptamine type psychedelics such as DMT and psilocybin due to the way SSRI's effect serotonin.

I would say atleast wait till your depression is treated to take any rec drugs really.

AGREE WITH ALL 3 ABOVE POSTS.
Only a psychiatrist can diagnose you with Bipolar Disorder. I have been on meds and in therapy for Bipolar 1 for 11 years.
~you have to take your meds.
~you have to give them time.
~you must report adverse effects to your DR. asap.
~you must be patient...some drugs work miracles on some people while others get no relief or even negative, adverse side effects. it took me and my doc almost 2 years to get a solid cocktail of meds that worked for me. even since then, new drugs emerge, our bodies change,environment,ect...and meds will sometimes change with those factors.
~see a psychiatrist who is known to be good with your diagnosis bc diagnoses change as well
I was also treated for depression but i also got clean at the time-i was 24. when i stopped self medicating and taking anti depressants,i went into a full blown manic episode. DANGEROUS-DELUSIONAL. Mood disorders take time, not just with meds but therapy as well.

BE honest with your doc and take your meds as prescribed. Good luck and keep us posted.

peace and love.............skillz
