Hi, curious about the possibility of Poppy Seed Tea as an alternative to CWF (codeine) for someone with reasonably high tolerance levels?

If the following technique is having no real effect, is it likely to be a problem with method, dosage level or is Poppy Tea just not so effective compared to CWF?

-use about a kilo of black poppy seeds purchased from local Indian Food store;
-mix with grapefruit juice, a liberal dose of pure lemon juice and enough water to cover the seed;
-blend for about 30 mins using an egg beater;
-drain and consume immediately.

Thanks and stay Safe.

Some people just don't have luck with poppy seed tea.

Be careful dosing 1 kilo. I've had a few very strong 300 gram doses, although they were pretty obvious with very dark tea and lots of 'mud' settling down bottom of glass (rare)

Unless you have a source for 'good seeds' it'll be very hit and miss IMO. At least with the codeine you have a known quantity?

1 - Use a 1.25 or 2L bottle. Use a funnel to put seeds in (200-300 grams depending on tolerance to start for an unknown batch)
2 - Warm water from the tap - add until seeds are submerged and the water level is an inch or two above seeds.
3 - Cap the bottle and shake.
4 - Let it sit, shake again, shake some more if you like. Give it maybe 5 minutes.
5 - Turn bottle upside down, unscrew cap a little, just so the water comes out and the seeds stay inside.
6 - Squeeze into a cup.
7 - Repeat and do a second extraction (add warm water, shake etc.)
8 - Drink slowly your first time to get a feel of strength.

It really isn't hard. You don't need lemon. It might work for you, it might not - it depends on the potency of seeds....the technique is impossible to mess up.

Be careful.

Some people get absolutely nothing from PST. If you're used to codeine it might not even be enjoyable.

Some people get nothing from PST, but some get too much.

I would regard PST (provided you've got a good source of seeds and a half-decent technique) as a big step up from CWE codeine rather than a substitute.

With enough good seeds, PST can get a person - even one with a big tolerance - quite stoned. It's in a different league really. It's crazy how strong some of the jars can be. It's a roll of the dice.

Imagine walking into a bar and ordering a drink, but there's only one drink on the menu. The size of the glass is the same (half a litre), but the ingredients and alcohol content are not disclosed. You order three drinks. The first turns out to be half a litre of light beer. The second turns out to be half a litre of full strength beer. The third turns out to be half a litre of 80% rum.

You get the idea. Seriously, the difference in strength can be staggering, which can be a 'holy grail' moment for an addict, or a funeral ceremony for someone with little to no tolerance.

<no sources>always have the better seeds. <no sources> never stock good seeds. I personally lower my ph with citric acid rather than lemon. This helps if you want to store it for any amount of time because the sugar in the lemon causes it to ferment.

Hi guys - thanks heaps for the messages and info.

So if there is nothing obviously wrong in the method described in the initial post - does that just mean the quality of the seeds is the issue, perhaps they are washed or something like that?

- Is there any difference between blue poppy seeds and white poppy seeds?
- Is using an egg beater different to manual shaking in some way that can affect the result?

The seeds were purchased at an indian foods supermarket. Not sure where else to go for seeds that are untreated or washed.

We hope it is OK to mention this on the forum, noting that it is completely legal? We respect this site and the willingness of the community to help with and discuss issues that cannot be safely discussed in most mainstream communities. We are also mindful that information shared here promotes safety.

It seems that with such a large quantity and over 20 minutes with an egg beater to shake the seeds that there should have been at least some sort of noticable effect?

Thanks again and be safe all!

We can't talk about sources. Good poppy seeds are rare IMO.

Yes it means they're washed/cleaned or processed in a way where the poppy pod dust doesn't mix with them.

Yes your method should have worked if the poppy seeds were good - no question about that. Your tolerance is too high or the poppy seeds were poor quality.

A tip that might be helpful is the cheaper the seeds, the more likely they'll be good. Usually means less processing. Look for tiny bits of poppy straw mixed in with the seeds.

Hi CMH, there's an abundance of info out there on the net, even a thread in this here forum, that will answer pretty much, all you need to know about poppy seed tea.

Because there's nothing new here I'm closing this thread.

PM me with issues if there are any or your having difficulty finding the old thread.

Thanks and welcome to bluelight.
