Police reagent test says 4-aco-dipt tests as Heroin?

Hey fellow bluelighters, I have a dilemma that maybe you can help me out on.

So, this seriously isn't about me, but a friend that I hooked up with a dose of 4-aco-dipt, she was stopped and harassed by the police last night who threw her in jail for the night and strip searched her, etc and put the 4-aco-dipt I gave her in some Heroin specific reagent test that they told her if it turned green it was Heroin. Which she doesn't do and I don't do and she had 4-aco-dipt. Anyways, they said it tested postivie and she's being charged with possesion of a schedule I substance.

Does anyone know anything about US police reagent tests? They aren't explaining to her what she's being charged with exactly.

cops are dicks. A standard reagent test is hardly a specific test. I'd imagine they'd use Mencke or something similar for a reagent test.

Lastly, even though the penalty for possession of heroin is similar to that for pot in most states, less severe in some, people in trouble are more likely to stress over being charged with heroin than another drug. the cops may not know what it is and just be trying to scare her into admitting what it is. She should simply stay silent and hire a lawyer. If it goes to trial the police will need a more definitive test, and it won't show up as a scheduled substance. This might be more suited to the legal discussion thread, but i'd imagine a few folks around PD might know a thing or two about this type of situation.

Also, was it in a capsule and how much was it? If they destroyed it all in the reagent test she could get off quite easily, provided she can hire an attorney.

yep, cops being dicks.

they assumed it was dope bbecause it was brown powder.

Wait and see if she gets charged with anything.
A Foaf had cactus chips test positive for psilocybe mushrooms, the charge never stuck.

good luck

Cops are full of shit, they're just trying to waste her time and money. They're doing the same thing to me currently, despite having no definitive evidence. I've had three scheduled court dates thus far and have yet to see my arresting officer at any of them, the first was a preliminary hearing, the second a felony possession charge (prosecutor dropped the case, but with the ability to reopen it), the third a misdemeanor public intoxication charge (I wasn't in public and they have no evidence of intoxication besides hearsay) (cop called for a continuance, court didn't notify me, I drove 18hrs for NOTHING!). Basically, what I'm trying to say is: fuck the police!

My advice is to get a smart lawyer and prepare to explain the world of analogues to him or her.
