I have been testing pills for a few years now and I am able to tell what is what when it comes to testing and color changes.

Recently a friend acquired a few different batches of MDMA all from a very well known source.

2 out of the 3 batches tested perfectly for MDMA.

The third batch however failed the Simons test. The color change was a merky green color slowly turning dark brown/black and actually stuck to the bottom of the plate, which was really odd.

This is a brand new test kit my friend just received in the Mail today, It did the same thing with his last test kit and thought that would be the problem so he ordered a new one.

My friend ingested the product and his initial thoughts were it is MDA. Strong body high/tingles, last forever, very potent and mild psychedelic effects.

But if it were to be MDA the Simons should have no color reaction at all, I have looked at every chart and just about every forum. Can not find anything that can help me out.

My best guess is this is cut just enough to show MDMA/MDA but has something else in it that My regent test can not pick up since of the dark colors on the Mecke/Madeline/marquis

That's looks nasty. I've tested a lot of research chems and pills and never seen or recorded anything like that green brown in your picture for Simons. For example when testing 2-DPMP, MDPV, Methylone, Mephedrone, MDMA, MDEA, MDA, 6-APB, 5-MAPB, 4-FA, 4-FMA, 2C-x, 2C-T-2, DXM, DMT, I never got a green to brown. I could go on but you get the idea. Just a guess but maybe it's some impurity?
