i know most of us live all over the world and there may not be a 'Cheesy Charlies' in your neck of the woods that offer free wifi, but what are some of the places that are local to where you live that offer free wifi?

I don't think Barnes and Nobles has free Wifi. I know in NYC, McDonalds offer's free Wifi, as well as Starbucks and other Coffee-Shop type stores.

Mcdonalds wifi blocks bluelight in australia.

There's an ios app which is free which locates free wifi in your vicinity. It's just called "free wifi".

Major parks and gardens such as New Farm Park and the Botanical Gardens around Brisbane also have free Wifi. Nothing better than a picnic and laptop afternoon. Also the trains and ferry's have free wifi

My local cafe offers free wifi
Also Starbucks
Barns and Noble
Dunkin Donuts
McDonalds
My college campus
Panera Bread

Certain bars/lounges also provide free wifi around here

Man, almost every place I visit in Seattle has free WiFi... almost every restaurant chain, fast food chain and bar has free WiFi. Many airports also have free WiFi but you have to check because several don't.

Community college is a good idea I'm on Jeff states WiFi right now in class. there is no password. or network key required

I think Books a million does. Maybe barnes and nobles as well. but I could be wrong

I tried books a million and apparently you have to purchase a $20 membership card that gives you a code or something you use to sign onto their internet. was kind of a let down,. yeah barns n noble has free wifi forsure, but most of the time they are packed full of random people. you have to get there early in the morning to 'reserve' your table and power outlet.
starbucs has good wifi, same as b&n tho, people are usually in there for the free wifi.(gotta love my starbucks cup..free refills).

mc donalds has the worst internet ever, or the one thats closest to where i stay. it says that it's up, but when i connect it's with limited connection, and when i try to go to my homepage it tells me something like server not found or some error page.
I might check out the panera bread company, theres one thats kind of local to where i live, and i think i have a coupon somewhere.

@CJ does J.state require you to use your student #, or did u have to hit up the technology center to get your computer setup to use the wifi there?

With a decent antenna and aircrack-ng it's pretty easy to get free wi-fi anywhere. Of course breaking into your neighbors network would be very illegal. Don't tell my neighbors please....

what's aircrack-ng? i'm checking it out now, and what do you mean by antenna? something that plugs into the usb?

My bad on the jeff state thing you need a pass word to get on the wifi but you dont need one to go hysically use a computer in the on campus lab. Which is weird to me.
