I think it's gonna be their year. Alvarez, Walker, and Tabata will have breakthrough years, but it's just a matter if the pitchers can keep runs down. Any thoughts?

I... hope so? I am a fan of the Pirates, but I just don't see them upgrading from their almost-worst-of-MLB bullpen. in the MLB everything depends on pitching, and the Pirates just don't have it

The Pirates have some good young talent, McCutchen and Milledge come to mind, but the Pirates pitching is laughable. I think his name is Malholm, isn't his record like 1-11 with a +8 ERA?

Plus you have an owner that doesn't give a shit about winning. Pittsburgh is spending less on their payroll now than they did the last time they had a winning team, sometime in the early 90's.

The taxpayers of Pittsburgh helped pay for a new stadium and the owner won't even spend any money to get decent players.

As long as you have your crappy owner, I don't think Pittsburgh will ever be any good at baseball.

the aforementioned "lol" is coming from a Cubbies fan. so you know, it hurts more

sounds like a bit of a stretch to me. i mean, have complete confidence in your team by all means. :)

It an atrocity that that the tax payers in that city were forced to pay for that new stadium despite voting no on it.

Should have let the pirates leave the city. Pittsburgh only needs the Steelers and the Penguins anyway.

There's just something about being able to say "It's a good year to be a Buccos fan" in late April, just that split moment of optimism gets me excited, and than May ends and the season is over.
