What all is known about this drug? I talked to my doctor a week ago and he said I should be fine if I started taking it.

I call up to my doctor's office today, and then he says he don't know how it would interact with my other medicines I am on.

I wanted to start taking this to help my depersonalization issues.

How are we to know if it's good for your situation when you haven't explained your situation at all?

What medications are you on? What are you trying to treat? What have you tried?

interactions aside, the isolated effects of piracetam are at best: subtle, subjective, require consistent dosing, and quite frankly no one really knows for sure what it does other than increase blood flow between the hemispheres of the brain? what they do know, however, is that it does not have any major side effects, abuse potential or dependence... some people report boost in energy levels similar to low dose stims when paired with good choline supplement

We still don't know what your situation is....? Something psychiatric, that's all I know. We can't really advise you what can help if you don't tell us what you're trying to treat.

^Basically.

Sadly not much hard facts are known about piracetam. When combined with other supplements (choline, B-complex, magnesium, etc) it seems to improve cognitive function, but I have no idea about it helping psychiatric issues.

I wanted to start taking it to treat my depersonalization.

Why i'm asking is that any altering my medicine will send me into a bipolar episode, which I will be hospitalized for.

I really had hope on taking this supplement.

I'm not saying you shouldn't give it a try, I'm just saying that not a lot is really known about it and therefore I would tread with caution in regards to interactions, etc.

If your doctor says its fine to start taking it, I would at least give it a try if you think it will help.

Work closely with your doctor on this. I have found haloperidol to help my psychiatric problems better than any of the atypical antipsychotics. What medications have you already tried, that didn't work?

Most anti depressant make me even more suicidal.

I smoked some laced weed about two years ago. Had to go to the mental hospital for a while until I regained my sanity. I haven't been the same since. Any altering my medicine i'm on now sends me into another episode. :(

How would haloperidol, an antipsychotic and a damn good one too, induce an episode? It's not an SSRI...

I've just confirmed with a friend with bipolar, that haldol would STOP an episode, not induce one.

I suffer from Bipolar and SSRIs basically send me crazy, they induce mania.

Anti-psychotics will not have this effect.

It's the strattera i'm worried about.. If it's increased by just a little or decreased, i'll freak out.
