Phenylalanine VS Tyrosine...

From what I have read, Tyrosine converts to DOPA in the brain. From there, it produces catecholamines such as: dopamine, norepinephrine and epinephrine.

I understand that there are two kinds of Phenylalanine; L and D. According to Wikipedia the L one converts into Tyrosine, and the D converts moreso to phenylethylamine. They say that the DL Phenylalanine is has the greatest anti-depressant effects.

I have used both Tyrosine and Phenylalanine for depression (somewhat of an augmentation to the Effexor). I also preload with these two before I take Amphetamine so there is more Dopamine in the brain to be released. Because these two convert to Dopamine, norepinephrine, etc. I thought it would help with the Amphetamine comedown and restore some of the brain chemical levels.

I have a few questions pertaining to these two Amino Acids:

A: Which one has the best anti-depressant effects?

B: Which one is best for preloading (and coming down) on amphetamines?

C. Are these potentially dangerous with Effexor?

D. Which do you prefer: L-Phenylalanine or DL-Phenylalanine?

E. If you use one of these particular Amino's, how much do you take?

F. How dangerous is it to combine these Amino's with Selegeline (5 mg's or so)?

H. Do these have any advantages/disadvantages over L-Dopa (The Dopa Bean 20% supplement stuff)?

Sorry about all the questions, but I am very interested in these and if anyone can answer any of these that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!:)

sounds like a good series of questions for advanced drug discussion ,i find these substances facinating and would be interested in answers to some of these questions

i have a few questions to add

a)are these the same substances that are the basis for some of the research chems developed by shulgin?

b)are these the same substances used in artificial sweeteners?

c)are these obtainable as supplements from heath food stores?

B: I know that some artificial sweeteners contain Phenylalanine. Pretty much all diet sodas do.

C: Yes they are (at least where I live).

MODS Feel free to move to Advanced Drug Discussion if it would be more suitable for the question.

A. This differs from person to person. Between L-PA and L-TYR I prefer L-PA, though I do not have DL-PA available.

B. In my experience, definitely L-PA. Many people think L-TYR is better, though.

C. They might be in high doses. In small doses (less than 1g for L-PA or 500mg for L-TYR), I did not notice any negative effects.

D. In canada, DL-PA is banned, so I only got to try L-PA. Some people say DL is better, others say that DL seems to self-cancel itself and prefer L-PA.

E. For L-PA, I use at least 1g and 2g is the max. For L-TYR, half of that.

F. With Selegeline, combining 1g of L-PA and some chocolate did something very similar to Meth. L-TYR seems to have too many hypertensive effects (both do, but L-TYR seems more alarming).

G. L-DOPA is horrific stuff. Unless you take it with a Decarboxylase Inhibitor (like Carbidopa), most of it will be turned into DA outside your brain and will result in nothing but horrible side-effects (panic attacks, racing heart, feeling sick...etc).

I think this will get more answers in Advanced drug discussion. Why have members in OD so reluctant to give out info lately? Its beginning to annoy me a lot. Just because google is on the internet doesnt mean they cant come here for personal experiences. Ill leave the redirect in OD tho because some members might have some experience with this. I personally have never tried these chems.

I think people with good (legit, correct, what have you) answer don't bother because they know their info will just be buried by 10 other people saying "I don't know but _______ (random stupid guess or 3rd hand information)" or just straight up misinformation.
I mean, it seems to have scared away most of the people with REAL MEDICAL TRAINING or ABUNDANT EXPERIENCE (in whichever realm the question is in)- The kind of people with the MOST valuable information. And then the high school dropout retards are there to answer every thread even the ones they know nothing about and pretend like they are totally sure. It kind of fucks up the whole balance and reason of this board.

But thats just a guess.

I find DL-Phenylalinine the best for anti depressant and alertness effects.

And by the way Jamshyd DL-Phenylalinine is not banned in Canada. I buy it regulaly at healthfood stores here in TO. Have been doing so for a long time. Even when it was 'illegal'. However, the laws regarding amino acids was changed about a year or more ago. If where you go tells you that just go somewhere else. It's available.

I remember seeind something about the D isomer having some inhibitory effects on enkephalinases, but I can't remember where I read it so it might just be a load of shite (has the right 'things' to be correct though, like a D-amino acid 'clogging' the enzyme's active site!)

I've tried them both (l-tyrosine vs. dlpa) and tyrosine seems to have the greater effects, but with more side effects. DO NOT MIX THESE, especially with Vitamin B6, my one experience with 2.5g l-tyrosine and 1g d,l-pa ended up in a strong, stimulated ++ that was unpleasant.
