Make Other Drugs Great Again
An enhanced albeit slower onset version of Neurontin (gabapentin) - possibly on par with Lyrica.

I figured I'd experiment with it for the first time today to help break up the month-long PAWS I've had after getting clean from Suboxone and a 5 bar/day Xanax habit.

This selective GABAb agonist seems to have a varied effect on individuals based on reading everything I could find on it over the past 3 days. Much like kratom it is an unregulated free-for-all market and is thus prone to the same problems (i.e. impurities). Anecdotes regarding slow metabolism were correct as it took roughly 3 hours for effects to kick in so it is important not to re-dose too soon. Onset is subtle yet for an individual coming from baseline you should expect to feel some abdominal warmth and tingles followed by changes in perception and cognition. The effects feel like a mix of pleasant dopaminergic stimulation with some MDMA-like serotonergic empathetic sociability - the latter of which is more likely to be effects on GABAb receptors.

What I'm curious about is, for those whom have used Phenibut, what does it feel like for you? More specifically, what drug effect does it most closely resemble to you?

I'm gonna go with a heavy dose of Neurontin (2400mg) combined with a low dose of Klonopin (1mg).

P.S. Keep your withdrawal and addiction stories out, there is way too much information on that part of it already.

I'm gonna go with a loooong lasting, low ml dose of ghb. like, 4ml of good ghb that lasts 30hrs. Having had many gaba habits, i couldn't believe reading forums with people waxing about how non-addictive this substance is. Soon as i took it i said "oop, there's some gaba-b right there, for a LOOONG time too" i figured physical wds were pretty much par the course for anything with such a profile. I've kept my usage and dosage low, did 500mg today w 2g krat, perfect. may take another 600mg in two days, after that not

I take 500mg, before bed, once a week. It gives me a refreshing sleep and I feel confident, sociable and happy the whole day. It reminds me of those magical days of early youth, when you'd wake up knowing that it was going to be a great day, and the world buzzed with great promise, and everything would effortlessly fall into place no matter what life threw at you. For someone who suffers from social anxiety and is unsociable, phenibut ushers me into a world where people become very interesting to me and I feel myself becoming very interesting to other people. It's an exciting world - a treat - especially when you spend the majority of the time trying to hide away.

Wow, I feel exactly what you described.

Today I woke up with a smile for the first time since I was a kid. It's not a high per se, just an overall ehanced mood that feels natural but at the same time feels like I can take on anything. Nothing bothers me - no anxiety, no fatigue, no dread. It's not a downer because I feel motivated to accomplish things I had been putting off yet it's not an upper... it's like the first time I've felt this way in over 10 years - like that long lost feeling pre-drug use that we all lose sight of after our first habit.

Amazing stuff. If there was no risk of physical dependence I would take this every day for the rest of my life without thinking twice. God dammit..

EDIT: I should add that I slept 9 hours and woke up feeling MAG-FUCKING-NIFICENT as though I had won a $100 million dollar jackpot the day before or had the best date of my life the previous night. I was in REM sleep for what felt like the entire night. I'm going to hypothesize that the feeling of relaxed motivation after waking up is a direct result of extended REM sleep. A longer REM cycle correlates to an increased feeling of rejuvenation in the morning.

4g no tolerance feels like 350 mg lyrica no tolerance.

"the smiles". euphoria. disinhibition. in-the-moment feelings. haziness. stimulation. etc.

however it takes a few hours to kick in.

phenibut doesnt feel like neurontin to me..if i had to make a comparison, id say it is similar to low dose of ghb..phenibut doesnt always 'hit the spot' but when it does, its effects on your social drive and inhibitions can be very noticeable...it also seems to increase sex drive as well which is a huge bonus as we all know, most anti-anxiety meds kill libido..

thing that sucks about phenibut though is it makes you dumber..seriously, if i take a good sized dose, my IQ drops 20 points BUT i turn into an outgoing fun person so..

I've never used neutrontin, so I can't compare the two, but i really like the effects. I did it for the first time (4g) the other night, and I loved the wave of serenity and calm that washed over me; I felt relaxed and happy but alert and clear headed. I'd describe this as a functional drug, not a recreational one. BTW I didn't feel dumber, but I did feel as horney as fuck!

^^phenibut is strange as its not really a recreational drug as there is no 'high' to get from it...there is a pronounced feeling from it though, a functional drug no doubt BUT no way could i study on it..

I've told my therapist of the profound effects it had on my anxiety and overall quality of life. She told me to bring in a pro/con list to my next psych doc appointment.

So far I've got:

Pros:
-Restful Sleep, no AM grogginess
-Motivation with focus
-Total reduction of ALL general & social anxiety
-Elevated mood/sense of well-being but not 'high'
-No physical or mental impairment
-Enhanced quality of life

Cons:
-Physical dependence
-Tolerance issues
-No FDA approval or studies in long-term effects on body/mind

With the exception of sustainability due to runaway tolerance it's a no-brainer.

Idk guys.

I'd say dependence and tolerance is never worth the trade-off. I personally wouldn't commit to taking phenibut long term. Just think of how much stuff you'd have to buy to counter tolerance.

I completely agree with your Pros list but that stuff can be had naturally ( it just takes a lot more work)

Personally been taking the same dose (500mg) once a week for a good few months now. Never upped the dose and still had the same effects each time.

once or twice a week seems ideal for me too. I think you can avoid tolerance issues by taking 500 mg once every 3 days. It seems to make me more logical, my mental processes are less depressed than usual, and as a result I feel a bit more optimistic. I don't think i could compare it to any other drug, but i haven't taken many of its chemical relatives.

2 things, phenibut definitely clouds my thinking...im not a drunk idiot on it but im not thinking clearly..tolerance has never been a problem for me tbh...1-2 grams still works for me and ive been taking this stuff for over a year..getting off phenibut is made easy by taking small doses of neurontin for 3-5 days..

dopemegently-i would love to hear how all of those positive traits could be had naturally..

phenibut is definitely a much better mood-enhancer than any ssri i have taken..

Hehe that's something I've never had a great deal of success with; but my counsellor assures its possible, and I'm getting positive effects from regular exercise and poetry workshops. ( with regards to sleep and meeting people)

It really is an effective mood enhancer. I have to admit to a temptation to use it more than I should; I'm trying hard to not exceed 1x week. 2-3 grams works for me. Do you take more than one dose in a day?

why is it that when i take phenibut all i get is a shitty jittery uncomfortable anxiety like feeling 2 - 3 hours later?

May I ask a dumb question?

When I was looking into phenibut as a possible get-off-Xanax thing, what floored me was the damned price (on Amazon for what reviewers call "pure"). I'll admit I've had that "pure" L-Theanine powder and it was tasty! But it wouldn't have been enjoyable without benzos.

Plus I have all this free gabapentin.

Is phenibut worth the money if you get 90 Xanax for $15/month? (I'd eventually run out of gabapentin if I got into it so forget about that.) It seems so pricey!

Can you take Phenibut as a replacement for Lyrica? I recently take all sorts of Gaba Drugs (ethanol, diethylether, GBL, pregabalin and gabapentin). My baseline drug is gabapentin for neuropatic pain, lyrica i take as needed too, but i seem to "need" it more often then i like to, and i gave half my prescription to my flatmate. Can i bridge my next lyrica refill with phenibut? What is recommended dosage if i take like 200-400mg lyrica?

Why not just taper the xanax ?
price discussion is not allowed btw.

phenibut provides a different anti-anxiety feeling as opposed to benzos..with benzos, you get strong anti-anxiety with a dulled out feeling whereas with phenibut, the anti-anxiety effect isnt as strong BUT you dont feel so sedated..in fact, phenibut acts as a stimulant in a way, thoughts are sped up and you feel almost manic..

i used to use phenibut for 2-3 days in a row, then use gabapentin for 2-3 days in a row..i kept switching off, it worked for me but the gabapentin just destroyed my cognitive functioning..
