Hey (sorry for my english),
i take Phenibut since February 2011.
Not much (mostly 250mg-400mg), only except sometimes (1-3g) - a day (for sleep).

Before i take Phenibut february i had not so much problems with sleep.

In summer 2011 i noticed that I wake up too early and 2012 i noticed that i can't fall asleep without take Phenibut.

So today: I can't fall asleep without take Phenibut and I wake up too early. But I try not to take in the morning. I have often headache with eye pain (mostly afternoon - i think my body miss Phenibut).

It's only 250mg-400mg a day and only for sleep but i can't sleep without it.

I read many Phenibut-Threads but there are mostly Users who take few times a day and 5-10g. I never took so much Phenibut. I think the 2-3g (a day) was the biggest amount of Phenibut for me and only one or two days successively.

I have Gabapentin but it can't replace Phenibut. I have often tried.

I am now trying to tappering it. Every 7 days few mg fewer. Yesterday i had bad headache with eye pain before my Phenibut night/sleep dose.

Someone has the same experience ? I destroyed my whole sleep with this stuff. And if I sleep bad my whole day is bad.

is it possible for you to see a doctor and switch over to diazepam rather than phenibut? what will happen is you will slowly be introduced onto valium while continuing to taper off using the phenibut (as it acts on GABA-B, not A receptors). then when you have fully come off the phenibut you can look to coming off the diazepam, which i think will be less painful. phenibut is a very nasty drug and i've heard of many people having issues coming off it completeley.

does that sound reasonable for you?

Thanks for your answer.
It's a good idea with diazepam.
But i think my doc never give me such a strong medicine.
So I have to ask a friend, whether he have diazepam.

Thanks

i think if you explain to your doctor what the problems all are - and that you've had problems with addiction to phenibut and cant get off it he will most likely prescribe you diazepam anyway and suggest a tapering plan that is as fast as possible and as pain free as possible too.

if he doesn't know what phenibut is, i suggest taking a drug fact sheet with you just in case showing its mechanism of action so he will see that GABA - B is activated etc. by the drug, and he/she will understand it a bit better. it's a pretty rare and unheard of drug, only reason i suggest taking it with you.

A better option then diazepam would be baclofen. Baclofen acts directly on the GABA B receptors so will treat the symptoms rather then just masking them as the diazepam would do. baclofen is also not considered addictive (although it does need to be tapered if your on it long term) so your doctor might be happier prescribing it.

I tapered off my diazepam using Lyrica (pregabalin). I never thought I could taper off my years of benzo prescriptions and benzo abuse so comfortably! I have Lyrica to thank for that one. It is a more potent and more effective pro-drug of gabapentin, but for insurance related bullshit gabapentin works just fine for managing my anxiety now.

I'm aware your issue is with sleep, well try some other hypnotics and sedatives other than just limiting yourself to GABAergic drugs. You're certainly not helping yourself by limiting your options. I have been on a wide array of medications for sleep, but here's a few non-GABAergic drugs that I prefer: Doxepin, Remeron, or Trazodone

I think diazpepam is much better option to be using in conjunction to the phenibut. Tapering slowly off the phenibut while using diazepam will alleviate most of the unpleasant symptoms - and then gradually allow you to completely stop using the pheni. Then when you're on a stable dose of diazepam you can start to taper from that. A long and slow process, but much safer under guidelines from a doctor and closely monitored too rather than random withdrawal from phenibut.

The diazepam might be the way to go if your still tapering the phenibut, I agree with that synthetix. However once phenibut use has ceased the baclofen might be of better help to manage the first couple weeks of cravings (baclofen is being studied at the moment in this capacity with alcohol).

Either way having a proper benzo like diazepam at hand might be advisble incase of any seizure risk or bad anxiety.

I tapered off Phenibut before. I got a shitload as free sample from some supplement store and I enjoyed the stuff. It helped me sleep and I noticed more energy in the gym. After a few months I realized this stuff can cause withdrawals so I just tapered off slowly. I was doing 3 grams a day so i tapered down to 2, then 1, and didn't have a problem coming off completely.

Well, the OP is having considerable difficulty in doing so. Every person reacts differently to drugs and he is not in the same boat you were in I think.

I would say stick to tapering in smaller and smaller amounts you will get there eventually. I think using diazepam as way of getting off an addictive drug could just lead to another addiction. Benzo's in generally are addictive!!

Stick with the tapering, try and stay positive about it.

If the sleep is the main issue try maybe buying some melatonin and valerian root the combination of these two can be very strong in terms of sedation. The valerian root can get you comfortable enough for the melatonin to work.

Hey (sorry for my english),

Buy some empty gelatin capsules, and start tapering off from 250mg to:

200mg for week 1
150mg for week 2
100 mg for week 3
50mg for week 4
25mg for for week 5
Week 6 = clean

I quited 2 weeks ago (cold) and today I sleep better without phenibut.
One week my sleep was bad.

Thanks for your help and taper-plans but I decided to made it without tapering.
And since 2 weeks no Phenibut.

To other Phenibut-consumer: Phenibut is not a joke and not a easy food supplements.

baclofen is also not considered addictive (although it does need to be tapered if your on it long term) so your doctor might be happier prescribing it.

some people experience no withdrawal symptoms coming off baclofen cold turkey while a percentage of people do get withdrawal symptoms. people mightn't necessarily get addicted to it but there is definitely withdrawal symptoms associated upon cessation in some, not all, cases if the user becomes dependent on the drug.

just wanted to make that clear.
