Perhaps it's time to have a dedicated methamphetamine forum?

Hello

Fentynal overdoses contain both fent and methamphetamine has grown to 60% of overdose deaths.

Meth is being pumped into the country from the cartel south of the border supplied with precursors of precursors from China, as well as from the East Asian "Golden Triangle" which had exploded in recent years scrambling to pump meth into new countries such as Australia, Eastern Europe (Greece is being ravaged by meth abuse, as well as Poland and more and more I find myself speaking with German meth users.), and an old love, the United States.

It is gaining widespread use in Millenials and Gen Z groups as pharma amphetamine blends like Adderall and Vyvanse were over prescribed by Telehealth pill mills during COVID-19 lockdown, ultimately overwhelming production and DEA limits on production. As opiate prescriptions were scrutinized by the DEA and users cut off from their legal dealers moved to heroin and eventually Fentynal, so too are younger methamphetamine users I've interviewed, and myself turning to methamphetamine when our Adderall is not available for miles each month.

Methamphetamine is a substance I had no idea I could even find, and ten years ago probably couldn't. I work a job which allows my wife to stay home- I make double the average household income in America alone, my social circle is not dominated at all by any kind of drug use except maybe legal cannibas. I found meth in less than 24 hours of searching, and discovered some of my friends were using meth as well in secret.

I think this is going to get significant very quickly. Is there any way the site admins would consider moving meth use out of "Other Drugs" and maybe into a dedicated "Substituted Amphetamines" forum that also covers prescription abuse.

That's true! But with how over prescribed Adderall, Vyvanse, and Zenzedi have become just since 2020, meth use skyrocketing, and MDMA being mimicked with research chems in Europe I would still say "Substituted Amphetamines" are a large enough and used enough category to be worthy of a sub-forum

There are tons of threads about amps, just like ones about opioids.
I don't know the stats but I'd bet opioids are more prescribed because of methadone clinics

I was surprised that opioids didn't have a dedicated sub forum either, but opioids aren't my schtick, and what would it just be posts about fentynal since that's pretty much all that's out there

I'll check out the numbers for curiosities sake but I wonder if the number of folks using prescription stimulants and or recreational stimulants is greater than the number of folks using opioids (excluding kratom). I think the insane and tragic fatal overdose numbers skew the perception of the USAs stim problem.

I dunno just something to consider, I had a hard time browsing this forum over the past year looking for patterns in stim user discourse from late 2019 until now. Of course not everyone is crawling around the internet at 1AM looking for patterns to write about in their unhinged book, but figured I'd bring it up

We have definitely had the idea brought up before, i think it would ultimately just create more difficulty for the moderators. Other drugs, drug culture, the other sub forums have been formatted like this for a pretty long time, and it seems to work well enough. We have a ton of meth conversations all over the place in many different forums.

Was that him recognizing his abuse problem? I know he eventually became vocally opposed to amphetamines as did Ginsberg

I like to think "I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness" was a direct reference to amphetamine psychosis

Thanks. I tend to think that the quote is just in deference to simple and human ideas, as opposed to letting ourselves get bogged down in terminology and academia.

Love the beatniks particularly William S Burroughs in particular. Jack was full of himself .. Ginsberg is a brilliant poet

and what would it just be posts about fentynal since that's pretty much all that's out there

despite most of the opioid supply being fentanyl; most of the conversation on the site surrounding opioids is pretty high level and based around different pharmaceutical opioids and comparing them or asking questions about specific pharma opioids.

Isn’t much interesting to discuss about illicit fentanyl.

Even when fentanyl is dicusssed; the transdermal pharma formulations seem to get discussed in higher proportion vs their existence vs illicit fent out in the wild
