i'm just finishing off a course of anti-biotics. What drugs will mix well or won't be effected by penicillin. I read in another post that E and penicillin are fine, what about other drugs. I'd imagine that G and penicillin would leave me on my ass.
thanks

Why would you think that mixing anything with an antibiotic would leave you on your ass?

alcohol and anti-biotics didn't mix well
Really? I have a great experience with them. I never get sick. I just don't have to drink as much.

Alcohol will negate the effects of the antibiotic. That's all that happens. If you really think that it in anyway effects your buzz, you're both wrong.

I agree. Why would antibiotics and anything put you on your ass, porn asterisk?

Then why on my pamphlet on info that came with my perscription does it say this antibiotic may cause drowsiness and vertigo... alcohol may increase these effects? And why when I wasn't on the meds it took me many many (I guess it's between 8-12)beers to get drunk and when I got drunk last wednesday I was drunk after four?

How can I be mistaken about a drug I am still on? I am on dirithromycin for pneumonia and it says it on the fucking pamphlet!!!!!!! And I am a vet student who has taken two classes on pharmacology so far. There will be so many more. I am only in my 2nd year of vet school there will be many more.
But as an aside I got drunker because it causes increased absorption. I know not all antibiotics cause this but a lot of them do. Time released drugs = decreased absorbtion.

i'm on oxycillin for bronchitis (1 gram, 4 times a day). I'm a bit of a cadbury when it comes to alcohol but i felt heavily sedated after my first throw-down... a throw-down for fuck sake!!!
Anyway, if the anti-biotics increase the alcohol absorption, would that the same for all drugs?

If you're on anti-biotics, you shouldn't do drugs. Get better first, can't you wait a couple of days?

Tomorrow night is my last dose of anti-biotics. i feel fine and have been for a few days, i'm simply finishing off the course of anti-biotics as the doctor ordered. Also, tomorrow night happens to be my last big chance to get fucked up and recover in time for finals which are stretched over a horrid two week period. So you're right, i probably shouldn't be taking anything, but its a last oppertunity for quite a while and i've already been straight for a month because of that damn bronchitis.
