Pavlov and Your DOC

You all know the story of Pavlov's dogs, who were classically conditioned to salivate at the ring of a bell. He would ring the bell just before feeding them, and then after a while just ringing the bell itself would cause them to salivate.

Well, I noticed some time ago that I do the same thing with my DOCs. Back when cocaine was my DOC my nose would begin to run (or salivate as I liked to term it) when I knew I was about to snort a line.

When my DOC was H my legs would get kicky and eyes watery when I knew I was about to take a rip (I only vaporized it).

Anyone else experience this? I think it's interesting.

I know what you mean. Physically before opiate use (not to sound gross) I would feel the need to have a bowel movement. It wasn't like I was dope sick either, just thought it was a strange phenomenon. I would get different sort of excitement when I would cop crack. I could not get home soon enough, so looking forward to that first hit and the ritual of it all.

I have experienced the same symptoms with Coke. And the watery eyes with H.

A friend of mine who used to IV Coke always used to have a stomachache when we're scoring.

Yeah, Erik, the stomach thing always hit me too, since cocaine often has laxative and diuretic effects during initial dosing...interesting stuff.

Classical conditioning is fascinating.

Maybe your body figures it might as well take a shit now because its not going to for a bit after using opiates. Oddly enough I get the same thing as I'm packing the first bowl of weed for the day.

I also have the stomach thing before smoking weed as well but not before vaping, always hits me the instant i finish packing and flick the lighter.

I remember that when I was on my way to the dopespot with money in hand my withdrawals would actually feel a little better. I think this may be due to conditioning.
