I just saw a report on the news where people were walking into a pain clinic to scripts to vicodin and stuff like that, and the news guy went in there too to see if it works and got a script for lorcets, but I thought you couldn't get into a pain clinic without a doctors referral, is it possible to go to a pain clinic on a walk in basis?

shit, hell yeah does anybody know if there are any in NC? specifically in the Charlotte area or I guess I'd just have to google and call the ones in my area.

My insurance doesn't require referral to pain management. So you can call on your own. It looks better when you have a refferal. Both of my pain management dr's are specialist.. one a rheumatologist the other a neurologist.. so you could basically make an appt and walk in.

Even if you don't need a referral you'll still need some evidence of pain. You can't just walk in and say "my balls hurt when I don't get laid" and expect to get pills. At least outside Florida.

For your situation I would go to an Urgent care place. Given what is going on with you, you will get a script for pain meds and likely a refferal!!

Dude I was JUST watching a special on nightline where they were in Houston and rounding up homeless people and taking them to pain clinics, never been there before, just walking in and saying their back and legs hurt and getting scripted like 120 norcos on the spot, they'd get 5 or 6 people to go in and get scripts and pay 'em like 20 bucks a piece for doing it, and the didn't have any paperwork or referrals or anything just said it hurt.

@ Violenza Yes urgent care sounds a lot better than hospital actually.

Depends where you are I guess. If you don't have cancer or something they can see on an x-ray you don't get shit.

Funniest shit I've heard in a good long time.

there's been too much hype about the pain clinics lately. media is making too big a deal of it, and it's all over the news. sucks i'm at a point in my life when i really can't take advantage of the system.. and by the time i'm able to, it'll be over..

fuck the media, they ruin every good thing. four lokos, jwh, etc..

It's part media and partly the idiots that talk to them or give them reason to report it. If people kept their mouths shut about shit it would be for the better.. then the asshats in the media wouldn't be able to report on it.

up here, walk ins dont seem to write opiates too often unless they know ya...and I get more hycodan for coughing then pain meds.

however, they don't balk at writing me depressants(benzos or Z drugs) or dexedrine lol...hell the ER resident well write me dex without having visited before just based on my empty bottle.
