Okay so I had knee reconstruction a few months ago and it's been bothering me quite a bit lately and I still have my pain prescription which is A333 oxycodone/acetaminophen 10mg/325mg, the bottle says take 2 every 4-6 hours as needed.. Well that's not doin it for me lol. My question is, is it safe to move the dosage up to 3 pills? So 30mg? Plz let me kno thx!

Hello Trip 24 and welcome to Bluelight.

Strictly speaking from an Acetaminophen/Paracetamol dosage perspective - Yes. 3x pills (975mg) will be absolutely fine, since the maximum daily recommended dosage is 1,000mg of Acetaminophen/Paracetamol in any 4-6 hour period and 4,000mg in any 24 hour period.

So assuming you spread it out you can probably even get away with 4x pills without a problem.

Just be mindful to manage your prescription supply carefully and also look into using a non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug to compliment your Oxycodone/Acetaminophen such as Ibuprofen/Diclofenac/Naproxen/Aspirin to compliment your analgesic load for pain management.

Rybee is correct. Also, I would advise maybe looking up 'how to potentiate opiates' instead of increasing your dose. that will just make you run out early, and throw all sorts of red flags at your doc if/when you tell them. Most hospitals have very strict policies against self medicating and that is one of their signs of 'addict behavior'. Bs I know, but on the bright side, getting more out of less will also keep your tolerance down. meaning you will get more from less (lol) AND will have less intense withdrawal symptoms. Plus it can't be bad for your liver to not get near the fda max acetaminophen recommendation.

Take care!

Be sure to take Tums a little before you take your pills. If you want them to last longer, take Tagamet like a half hour before as well. You can also eat white grapefruit to make them last longer. When I was having neck problems, flexeril (muscle relaxer) taken at the same time would not only potentiate the oxycodone, but really help relax my neck as well. Not sure if this would help your knee.

Just be careful, people with pain that are prescribed oxy tend to love it. I wouldn't see a problem in taking another pill but when you start to feel the euphoric effects of this drug you may fall in love just as I did. So please be careful and stop immediately as soon as your pain subsides unless of course you need to titrate yourself off them.
