Hey,

Does anyone know if tachycardia is a known side effect of Oxycodone? Does anyone have any experience with it? Seem like everytime I take small amounts (5 or 10mg) my resting pulse shoots up to 130/140, with my blood pressure remaining normal. Seems almost too high.

Only thing claiming to be a "study" I could find is this: http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/oxycodone/tachycardia

It says that the side effect of tachycardia was reported in 346 of around 23,818 subjects and that's 1.45%. So yes it may be a side effect but there may have been something else to account for those individuals.

Oxycodone is more stimulating than most other opiates and it does elicit a "speedy" feeling that could account for an actual or perceived increase in heart rate.

That heart rate is very high I would not recommend taking more until speaking to a doctor. I have not experienced anything that high with any opiate.

Thanks for the reply, I'd seen the ehealthme article but was curious to see people's opinions on the matter - and I think your correct that I should speak to a doctor soon about this, especially as the pulse stayed that high for a good 5 hours before starting to come back down. Something certainly seems wrong.
