Where to start my first rant......
How is it that in a week, petrol can rise and fall up to 18cents???????
The cost of a litre of fuel up here in qld has now reached the $1 mark WTF
Coming from a v8 background this shit really can hit you in the pocket... some may say you shouldnt have a v8, but thats my choice i spose:\

Do you have a rant to get off your chest?:)

Miscellaneous Rants thread ;)

But, to add mine...

People who when handing their ID over in a club, say to the bouncers, omg, that was such a bad picture, don't look at it.

Are you not just inviting the bouncer, (who couldn't give a toss about your pic apart from the fact that it matches your face) to take a closer look at it?!?

And teh petrol really pisses me off too!

how come people having their heads cut off feels way old school these days? i've seen my share of chechnyan rebel decapitations, Nick Berg was just exhausting my tolerance.

Sorry to those that have replied, but i should have said it was more at out government, i have changed the title. But all rants still stand valid...:)

Yesterday I looked at the price of petrol and it was @ $1.05 a litre!

This is highway robbery!:X

^^^ yes this is bullshit, in any other industry such price fluctuations would cause a public outrage, yet we sit back and take it up the arse with hands tied behind our backs. Not that we could do much about it we tried.

Government - best man made scam ever :X

Well the Vic Gov got stitched on the Western Ring Road speed camera's - they were all proven to give incorrect readings and therefore they will be refunding/cancelling 120,000 fines!

Petrol 'to soar over $1 a litre'

I don't really see how you can direct blame for the oil prices squarely at the government. I'm not exactly a seasoned economist so I don't mind being proven wrong here, but it seems like there are external factors outside the government's control. Of course they haven't helped with the GST and such, but this soaring of prices is happening at an international level.

^^^

yep

govt excises on petrol remain the same regardless of price. they price fluctuations you are seeing are being passed down from world oil price instability. you can't really blame the govt for the volatility of a market they have little control over. the separate issue would be why they take so much excise on petrol in the first place.. but then, its just another tax focussed on drivers. We just have to live with it.
and, there are very few other markets with such great demand that change so quickly.. its hard to compare to anything else.

And my rant?

the bloody govt cutting back on crucial services like education and healthcare, while giving us tax cuts. sure tax cuts are all good.. not that they'll affect me much.. and i imagine other people. but not at the cost of pretty elementary (aha pun) services!

I am fuck'in pissed off at the government giving the banks way too much powers, I mean look at the bank fees the banks charge, its crazy and insane, the banks really need to be more strictly controlled.

yeah
and look at the profits they pull.. well except recently with NAB etc.. and possibly AMP (but that was OS)..
commonwealth iirc had several billion dollars in profit last financial year..
they've cut back on services and raised fees across the board.. so not cool, but who can take them on?

Yep, if I get $4 a week back, I couldn't really give a fuck when I will have to pay 25% more to go to uni next year & pay every time I go to the doctor.

:X

as a single girl with no kids I got absolutly zip from last weeks budget.

And I dont appreciate being told to "go do your patriotic duty"

ffs

I saw petrol today $1.05 at BP, then 96c at Caltex... what the???

I read a theory once (or maybe it was a michael moore book) that the oil companies have been slowly rising the barrel price, which then increases prices to us, so we become aclimatised to the higher prices. we now think 89c is CHEAP, when a year ago it was 79c etc. I know prices go up with inflation, but these price hikes are ridiculous

privatisation of health care and education. I don't mind paying the $27000 it will cost me to graduate from my undergrad degree, but why should we pay more than that? Instead of cutting funding to education, perhaps just not giving tax cuts would be more appropriate in order to allow tertiary education to be available to everyone...?

I suppose you could look at it in the way that it is a user pays sort of system... but in a user pays sort of system only those who can afford to pay can use the system - how are the less well off supposed to afford a decent eduation or healthcare? $45 may not be much to some, but if you can only just afford to pay your rent, how can you afford to pay this on top of it??

When it comes to social and environmental issues, I am left wing, but at the same time I am a dead set fiscal conservative. I expect our government to be frugal and mean when it comes to $$$.

This....

John Howard was asked the other day how much he thought a loaf of bread cost at his local corner store. He answered "90c".....the approximate time bread cost 90c was 1984...he was then asked the price of milk, a vb stubbie, and a few other items, which to all he answered in variations on the term "i don't know"....

Fucking wanker....just a little proof he is out of touch with the common Australian....
