I ave no access to benzos. or prescribed meds. Are there any OTC alternatives anyone had experienced with? I havent slept in the past 2 days and I have work tomorow.

Diphenhydramine (Hydrochloride) 50mg in Nytol tablets (UK).
Do the trick for me if I can't get to sleep.

Diphenhydramine or dimenhydrinate help me sleep if i don't take them often. Hell i have a benzo script (clonazepam) but it usually won't put me to sleep on it's own but dimenhydrinate usually puts me out.

Plus it will keep you from throwing up if your the type to get sick during opiate withdrawals.

I totally feel you bro- when I was in w/d the worst thing was being up all damn night. I found that NyQuil could knock me out for awhile. However, antihistamines can make RLS worse for some people. Maybe you could combine immodium with Nyquil? In any case- wishing you the best and keep in mind these sleepless nights will pass...I know how hard it is to get through them...

I had a few flexeril. took 1 10mg and did not even get anywhere. still opening my eyes every 30 min. I have melatonin. idk if that would be strong enough. I cant tell if the flexeril made me more restless though.

I might try dimenhydrate tonite, and maybe pick up some nyquil. I used benadryl when I had insomnia from habitual pot smoking and it worked like a charm. does dimenhydrate work better for sleep? since its designed for sleep..atleast from what the packages of it usually say

Im on day 3. Im hoping I can get to sleep now. I was thinking about shooting a little for work so I can get something done. But I might call in sick. idk

edit: thanks for your help everyone

Flexiril is cyclobenzaprine, its not a antihistamine. It shouldn't make your RLS any worse. If you got time you can take off from work I'd say do it. Being at home with the ability to just chill makes it a lot better for me.

Try the diphenhydramine (Benadryl) or doclimine succanate (sp?). The latter I think is sold as Unisom but, I'm not sure and it works great on me even better than the diphenhydramine. If you use cannibis smoke, it works great for me. While I'm high and just chilling I don't feel the wd as bad. I've made brownies before really strong and had some success although the thing with weed is when it wears off I usually wake up. Brownies have given me a good 4 hours of sleep before.

In very desperate times I've been able to sleep after choking back a few shots of vodka. Don't know if you can hold anything down and I've been told I have a cast iron stomach but, sometimes its worth it just to get a few hours of sleep. Good luck bro, I feel your pain.

^ I appreciate the input

I went to the store and picked up, diphenhydramine , some herbal thing (with valerian roots extract, hops extract) along with my other useless arsenal

God my bowels sound like a dying muskrat..sorry had to add that in there lol

^ dam forgot about that on my list..

anyone tried valerian roots for sleep? combined with diphehydramine?

FUCK MY LIFE

fuck it

fuck it. why can I not pass out

should i attempt to shoot for eat the rest of my flerxeril and drink till i pass oout..fuck..

I find alcohol use during opiate w/d is really unpleasant- so you might give it a try but I guess I wouldn't recommend it. Get the loperamide and take like 12 mg (6 x 2mg pills). It takes a while to kick in (for me 90 mins) but it should help you sleep a little. How long has it been since your last dose? As the days go on you'll get a little more sleep each night but it's tough so ya gotta hang in there.

Flexeril can make the RLS alot worse. All anti-cholinergics can and cyclobenzaprine has pretty strong anti-cholinergic effects. This is why diphenhydramine, dimenhydrinate and other drowsy classical anti-histamines cause RLS because they are also anti-cholinergics.

Out of the OTC anti-histamines ive tried doxylamine succinate has the least chance of causing RLS. It's also about as good for sleep as diphenhydramine and dimenhydrinate. However it's not good for nausea and vomiting like dimenhydrinate is.

I wouldnt see why taking lopermide would help you sleep. It doesent cross the blood brain barrier so it won't cause any opioid effects except stopping the diarrhea and help with the stomach cramps abit. Anti-histamines also seem to help the stomach cramps for me when taken with lopermide.

Alcohol during opiate withdrawals even in small amounts is really bad i find. It makes all my stomach problems including diarrhea worse. And it certainly makes the mental headfuck worse.

Oh word, good point PA. Didn't even think about fexiril like that.

Ya dude i agree. If you can hold down apple juice don't even bother with alcohol. Remember to stay hydrated too

update..took off work cuz i dont think I would do a good job with 5 hours of sleep in 3 days.

flexeril + wine knocked me out cold for 4 hours..than im wide awake again..dam. most sleep I got since tho

im gonna try valerian roots w/ hops extract..does anyone know if that would interact with flexeril...im not sure if valerian is a SSRI or not..which is what I need to avoid?

thanks everyone

i feel a ton better physically and mentally as the day goes

but still didnt get to sleep again..not sure why..

how long does your insomnia last while w/ding?

Too long, Iv never stayd clean long enough to get my normal sleeping patterns back. Insomnia is my most hated symptom of opiate WDs. Second is RLS.

I can usually start getting more than 4 hours of sleep after the 4th day of heroin withdrawals. The sleep time starts getting longer and longer after that. THough it's still far from enough for me, that's why Im on methadone now. Getting my MUCH needed sleep.

I agree, the sleeplessness is absolute torture. If I am withdrawing from poppy tea, I will always drink just enough to feel well on the 2nd day, that way I do not have to suffer staying awake all night. But I remember many sleepless nights when I would try to quit my habit.
