Opioid users, really need some help here (TMI, constipation)...

Alright, I didn't want to bring up this subject but it has reached the point where something needs to be done.

Kratom each day, twice a day, about 40 size 00 capsules of Maeng Da each time. My neck and back are totally messed up so it helps a lot and I take naproxen as well.

What that means is that every shit I take is tremendously painful ranging from quick with an aftershock of pain that fades away to a trip to the bathroom I have to abort so I can take a laxative and then lay in the tub for as long as I can until it's finally slightly less than rock hard and able to come out. I swear, the last four days have had it the worst it has ever been. It started with mild constipation - uncomfortable, not too painful. For months it has now been blood every time (and that's it - just blood on the paper) and a struggle that gets worse and worse.

I'm not going to stop taking Kratom, and while I'm sure constipation was a reason to quit for many opiate/opioid users, having constant passive pain on a daily basis is worse than having a panic attack and then really bad pain for two minutes (if I can successfully go to the bathroom, which is part of what the issue is, because in the last few days I had to stop and try again because of how bad it was).

I obviously can't take stimulant laxatives every day. I have this natural stuff but I'm not sure how well it works.

One of you would know better than I do: I need something I can take on a regular basis that works. Some sort of softener or something that isn't going to hurt me if I were to take it every other day or so.

Anyone else that had this side effect as a major issue for them and resolved it - what did you do? All answers would be appreciated, thank you.

I don't expect I can eliminate it completely. I just need to knock it back down to "uncomfortable", because it's at "trip through hell with extreme pain and loss of hearing for the next five minutes afterwards" right now.

One word.. Fiber!!! I'm on methadone and if I don't eat fiber everyday then I won't poop for a week. When I'm eating fiber everyday then I poop almost every morning before I dose.

you are right.... don't take stimulant laxitives, take stool softeners. ducosate always worked for me (ducloax or generic), but then my habit was never as big as it seems yours is. taking stool softeners every day probably isn't much worse for you than taking kratom every day. and remember to drink plenty of water, the body isn't used to absorbing large amounts of dried plant matter.

Healthy diet and tons of water are key.

Also who ever said stool softeners that's a good idea if shit gets extreme.
Hahaha

I swear by miralax. It's the only thing that ever worked for me. Take it once every other day and you will have soft poos in a couple days. If things ever get extreme a saline enema will break the impass.

I get very constipated from my suboxone. I drink prune juice, it usually does the trick. Drink a tall glass of it and bam, your bowels are emptied. Unfortunately, it tends to loosen it up to much, tends to be a bit explosive. But you will feel relief!

MAGNESIUM. Get the powder form that you mix with water.
Take about 10 times the daily dose. You will poop. When I really wanna poop I take way more than that... just get ready for a case of the thunder D's.
Its all natural and it works.

Used to watch my chick down that shit by the tub tryna deuce back it our heavy dope days. Haha! She was super sensitive to the g.i. effects of opiates.

Will have to look into the magnesium vit

This is a weekly issue I can relate to. I do the bath but also hear pad on belly when I know it's coming. I will also take a stool softner every other day and 1/2 a cap full of muralax on other days.. Granted, they are stupid large, it seems to pass easier.
Stool softner is obvious what it for a And muralax hydrates ur colon which helps with moving the stool. Kind of like living ur intestines to move.
Be careful tho, if u take muralax, if u take too much, it'll SERIOUSLY clean u out.
I have never had to take laxatives when I'm on my regiment. Plus I think my bowels are getting used to the size ect, that it's stretching and not as painful.
Good luck!! Sending you positive vibes!!!

I abused laxatives in my teens and twenties so I was pretty well already stuffed in that area but now I'm on 28mg of suboxone I have to make sure I have psyllium husk every day along with pears and plenty of water. Psyllium Is the best and only thing that works for me. It takes a couple of days to kick in but after taking it regularly it's great and essential for me otherwise I won't go for a week or more.

Cup of coffee and cigarette first thing in the morning.Nature's best laxative.Works every time for me and I have taken opiates daily for a LONG time. Also ,I drink a ton of water throughout the day and snack on apples and dried fruit mix.Helps a lot.Apples, especially the peelings, contain pectin, which is so effective that it's the "pectate" in Kaopectate laxative. It adds bulk to stool which helps both constipation and diarrhea. And a stool softener will help. Also, the laxative Senecot is not a harsh, stimulant laxative and is pretty effective.Just out of curiosity,is the anxiety you mentioned from the kratom?I'm interested in trying it but can't stand a stimulant because of anxiety issues.Just thought it would be a useful adjunct to my pain meds as I have chronic pain and always run out of pills early.

Not too much to add here, good advice in this thread imho, only thing I can think to add is timing your doses, as hard as that can sometimes be to do depending on availability of product, etc...if you wait until you are CLOSE to WD'ing, you will go to the washroom in a "close to normal" way. Then, go about your day, dose your kratom, etc. Otherwise, as others on here have said, pound water, exercise as regularly as possible, ensure that you're eating fruits and vegetables on a daily basis, and if all else fails, take a mild stimulant such as a cig.

Dear god don't ever take ducolax inhad the worst experience of my life in thought I was going to die straight up

Imagine having to shit so bad but u can't every. 5 mins u get cramps and u get sick and throwing up bile and nearly passing out I ended up in the bathtub with my finger up my ass hoping something would come out I diddint care if I was in the bath with my own feces the pain was so much and was sweating bullets after about two hours of fingering my ass and throwing up bile I finally exploded I felt so relieved I almost cried

Ducolax = nightmare

Look up ducolax reviews pretty funny/scary stuff

Some people describe it as worse than giving child birth

Sea org takes mag-carbonate.
I am a amphetamine user/harm reduction person.
..So. I take chelated masgnesium from a trusted reputable vendor (albion ).
I sometimes think maybe if I had a friend that I speak with we could have the Bluelight.org swallow a marble and then time the time till it poops out your ass and inot the pasta callondor.

I'd like to hear from someone that's taken citrate magnesium ( .99censt ) from Walmart with its 80% bioavailability. I think its the edge when used in application!

yeah stimulant laxatives like ducolax are definitely a bad idea for opiate constipation. stimulant laxatives are just for when you need to shit but don't have the urge to.... they stimulate your intestines so that you start to feel that "gotta go" feeling.

with opiate constipation you already have that "gotta go" feeling, though, but can't because your stool is so hard. stool softeners are what you need for this sort of constipation.
