I don’t know who this might help, but hopefully it will help somebody, had a botched neck surgery in 2020 and then had to redo it in 2021 then I tore my rotator cuff it got infected twice so they had to put me to sleep and cut me open three times. I was in pain management and through all of this, my opioid use got out of hand. I had got up too roughly 300 mg a day and I felt like I was really trapped. I decided I was going to try a taper so I dropped 10 mg every two weeks I am now down to 120 mg a day. It was pretty much been painless so far and I’ve decided that once I get under 100 mg a day. I’m only going to drop 5 mg every two weeks, has anyone on this site ever taper down opioids that could give me some advice how fast I should taper once I get under 100 mg but like I said I was at 300 mg a day and I drop 10 mg every two weeks and it’s been pretty much painless as far as withdrawals go,any help or insight would be appreciated thank y’all for your time.

I'm not sure what opioid you're using, but I wouldn't try to rush it too much once you hit 100mg. You could go too fast & cause yourself withdrawal & then need to dose higher again to get out of it.

I think dropping 5mg every two weeks is actually a good start. You could even try 5mg once a week if you're determined to get off of it. Everyone is going to be different though, so nobody can really say for sure how it'll go until you try it out.

For sure pay attention to your mind and body when getting closer to tapering completely off. At the same time don't believe everything you read because psychosomatic plays a big role too.

When I was young and after having another good week long binge of 30mg roxicodone instant release, I realized when playing basketball with friends that I was a bit sore, sweaty, irritable, which wasn't shit to me UNTIL a good friend who was older than me and visiting from California, explained to me that I am for sure dope sick and in "withdrawal" I had never heard of it until then and once he planted that seed, I could never forget it, and then I was more aware of my addiction, whereas if he would of never said this, 3 days later I would had went about life like usual instead of making opioids a full time thing.
Peace and good luck to you. You can do this!! Look into different taper methods and possibilities of comfort meds and find what works best for you.
