Hi all,
I'm a chronic pain patient (ankylosing spondylitis) and I have it relatively under control with biologics and opiods (oxy and morphine). Now that it is under control I am functional enough to do weight training and cardio (running, biking etc..) regularly.
I have noticed 2 things.
1.)When I take my meds before training my workouts are worse in terms of how strong I am as well as my energy for cardio activities.
2.)I no longer get that feel good feeling I get after a gym session, I just feel blah. I assume this is because the opiods are supressing my natural endorphin release, is this a fair assumption?
I want to hear peoples comments and experience on this. I am in the process of tapering off the pain killers and planning to come off completely in a few weeks and this is one of the reasons.
