Assuming (misc) means miscellaneous, lol, I hope I chose the correct prefix, since there is no (barb) option. I tried a few searches on Fioricet, but nothing came up. My main question for those of you who were perscribed this at some point in your life, or may still be, what was the prognosis for this med? Im wondering how well it worked for your migranes?(what it's usually perscribed for.) Also, I do a lot of reading and posting on erowid, but tell me about your encounters with it!8o Hope this is the right forum!

Feels like Xanax to me, but a wee bit better. But many people find it less enjoyable than benzos.

I met a woman in rehab who was there for a fiorinal addiction. She told me she liked codeine by itself, but the barbiturate made her feel like superwoman. She was taking 50 pills a day and had dropped down to 85lbs. So it must feel good...

For migraines it prob works amazingly.

^yeah the OP is asking about it's medicinal value so let's not turn the thread into a "it's such and such to get high on" because it's not what they're asking; those types of general discussions are in BDD.

For all you who do not know what this pharmacuitical drug is:

Fioricet (one of many generic names and different MGs)
Consists of Butalbital 50 mg
Acetaminophen 325 mg
Caffeine 40 mg

I would imagine it would need a higher mg of caffeine to keep the consumer from dozing off or falling asleep during daily tasks, so probably keep a bottle of No Doz near ya! Remember when NoDoz was the stuff!

i have taken it and prefer it over midrin (another migraine med, don't get me wrong, midrin is a good med but i prefer the overall feeling of fioricet better).. it doesn't really kill the headache though like midrin does, it's more of a "my head hurts but i don't care, i will just relax till it goes away" feeling and you forget about it, if that makes sense to you.
That's just my opinion though. And i would deff. choose it over imitrex, maxalt etc.

Hope i helped %)

Midrin initially gave me a stomach ache, though now I'm fine with it. However I found fioricet to work better and quicker on my migraines/headaches. I get no other special feeling from either. (i know some people try to get high off anything)

^no harm done... Generally if someone is just asking "what do you think about how this drug fucks you up?" It doesn't really fit in here so we move it to bdd or close it.

We believe this thread has more value in helping people than threads like the above so we think it should stay here/open... It is a fine line at times though and often when people ask about therapeutic use around here most of the responses are more pertaining to recreation.

ive taken a lotta fiorcet before. it felt pretty good i was also leaning on codiene/prometh. i got prescribed it for my migraines it helped them plentiful and i got a reall nice buzz/vibe from it i surprisingly got a nod when i combined all my drugs together cause combos are the best, i did 2mg xanax, 2 fiorcets with the 50 mg barbital, and some prometh/codiene syrup. i got a strong benzo tolerance and a moderate opiate tolerance and i was surprised a combo of such weak drugs made me nod. but yeah thats the only experimentation of fiorecet ive had

It doesn't work on my headaches like my opana, it feels like a wanna be barbituate. And not to sound like a dick but dr.s don't precribe codein syrup for migraines. Just saying that combinaation is used for coughing issues.

I've tried both forms of the drug, with and without codeine. I much preferred the former, as for some reason the butalbital just didn't seem to work.I get migraines rather often, when I went to my doc she gave me imitrex. I don't know about anyone else but one of those made me wretchedly sick.

So, in short, I'd have to guess it was the codeine that destroyed my migraine.

I was thinking of trying some, but the caffeine/barb are both water soluble, so you can't do a CWE and enjoy the downer effects.

It's too bad there are not a lot of barbs around to try, but I've got benzo's so all good

I hate people who have tried Fioricet but my friend is dating one who has and I dread seeing her.

I was scripted it for tension headaches a number of years ago,and for that it worked pretty well, nothing compared to a strong opiate though, but it works pretty well for tension headaches ..

I was prescribed fiorecet for chronic migraines. It works wonders. I have found if I double the sode I feel like wonderwoman. Prob the caffeine...feels nothing like a benzo effect.

My sister takes it for migraines and says nothing else has helped until now. She did take NoDoz to keep herself more awake if she was at work though.

its garbage. for rec usage. as far as what i would consider barbs useful for its like pheno. i would not consider it valuable unless you actually have a migrane. sorry but i couldnt be bothered to read the thread through. im too cool for stuff like directions.

I've been scripted the version with and without caffeine, the version with caffeine works much better for migraines (I think the caffeine being the better anti-migraine drug out of the the crappy barb in there and APAP).

They worked for a while and then I told my doctor they didn't, he switched me to Treximet (naproxen + sumatriptan) and it works wonders. The only time Treximet didn't work I had to go to the ER for some good old demerol + orphenadrine IV.

Migraines suck, Fioricet only makes them suck a tiny bit less.:\

It's not true. Actually we don't have any syrups with codeine here but there used to be a drug with codeine phosphate 20mg / paracetamol 300mg and in theory it was for script used for headache and toothache. Now, only a weaker medicine from this company is available (15/500) but it's rather mostly used by codeine addicts. Anyway, codeine with paracetamol is used for migraines, it was a good excuse to buy that stronger med when I was still a kid and needed something with more codeine.
