so i got a few St Johns pills and have never used them before. my pothead buddy i got them from told me to take them before smoking and it makes it seem like you have no tolerance.

so i love oxy and i got a bunch of it right now. will it help if i take the St J pills before i pop oxy? and about how long before should i?

thanks muchly

SJW will not get you high per say. it is used as a mild antidepressant and like most antidepressants it takes several weeks before people begin to report positive effects. i have experimented with them in the past and only once when i made a tea from a shit ton of pills did i feel anything noticable. I imagine for most if much is felt from them it is a placebo. However some do claim to notice effects the first time they take them (again its arguable whethere this is placebo or not).

they will not potentiate oxys, if you want something to potentiate it stick to benedryl.

Guess its worth a try though.

NO! It's not it'll waste the oxy. SJW enchances liver enymes that other things like tagamet get rid of. SJW will cause your CYP26D and other P450s to get all uppity and buff and start kickin that OC out. I think it does it more to other enzymes more but those ones too.

Sorry for errors. Ambien.

and it does this on a first dose? not after the mental effects begin to kick in (a couple weeks)?

Here's the biz: St John's wort is an inducer of Cytochrome p3A4 and will thus reduce the conversion of Codeine, dihdrocodeine and oxycodone IIRC to their active metabolites . As far as CYP2D6 is concerned clinica studies illustrated no change at all.
The effects depend on the opiate used. I thiink that codeine, dihydorcodeine, fentanyl, myth and affentanil are the only substrates (I could be wrong) The first two substrates will not be as effective if P3A4 is induced.
St John's Wort is a very effective anti-depressant (not necessarily anti anxiety) but I do not believe that it combines well with opiates unless their first pass metabolism into active metabolites is governed by P3A4.
If you're interested in active potentiation routes try the thread "magic bullet for opiate habituation..." or the mega thread.
