Sorry if this should be in the megathread... I did read thru it and didn't find the answers to all my questions. Ty for helping. <3

I am doing a slow dilaudid taper and recently acquired a quantity of 50mg lyricas. I have a few questions:

1. Some of them are expired. Should I toss them? Are they safe? Will they just be weaker?

2. Would 100-150mg be a good starting dose? I cannot be incapacitated during the day... I need to be able to at least attempt work (I'm a novelist) and be able to care for my children.

3. Will lyrica potentiate my remaining dilaudid dose? I read it helps with anxiety and RLS?

Thanks again for info and experiences. 8o

I only know from gabapentin (but they are closely related).

1. Depending on the Expiration date they should be ok as long as they are not like 2+years old or something... they just lose strength after a certain amount of time (way over the expiration date)

2. IDK about the dosage of lyrica, but I took 1200mg of gabapentin (they come in 100mg, 300mg, and 800mg I believe) and i felt 100% when I took them by themselves.

3. Yes, very much so, so maybe keep the lyrica dose low...maybe just one with your dilaudid just to see how they work together...dont go too high... otherwise.. you never know 150mg of lyrica on top of dilaudid could make the lyrica equivalent to like 2000mg !!!

So i'd say start with one wait 30 mins, if it doesn't feel any better, one more... etc etc

1. The drug companies set expiry dates much later than required to cover their backs legally, so I wouldnt worry if they are 2 years older. They might have lost some potency after five years but at 2 they should be fine.

2. 50mg is a good starting dose, if you have never taken lyrica or gabapentin. Its much stronger than gabapentin, but builds tolerance fast. As such, you are better off taking a low dose and building up the dose. Also if you start low, you will find you can function.

3. I dont know if it will potentiate the diludid, or if the dilaudid will potentiate the lyrica. I have read that the latter happens. So maybe try and see the synergism. I personally do not have experience using opiates and lyrica.
