SWIM recently had a single 30mg codeine for pain relief and realized it has recreational uses. SWIM has taken a total of 30mg codeine about 4 times and is otherwise completely opiate naive.

Last night SWIM upped the dosage to 60mg codeine phosphate for the first time with an antihistamine, 500mg paracetamol and about 3 beers. SWIM has read about CWE and knows in larger doses paracetamol isn't a good mix but thought with such a low dosage it could enhance the buzz.

For the next 12 hours SWIM thinks he was nodding. The whole next day SWIM still felt drowsy and had the effects of a hang over. Could this be because of the paracetamol or is it because SWIM is so opiate naive? If SWIM goes on to similar or higher doses without the paracetamol is he likely to still feel shitty the next day?

it might be a hangover from the alcohol + tylenol. there should be no long term health effects as long as you dont drink on APAP again...

SWIMming on this site is not allowed. there is nothing to hide from, we know it is you who took the codeine :)

Upped the dosage as far as 120mg and don't seem to have the same problem without APAP. Still struggle to enjoy codeine without alcohol as it's a part of my regular routine. A bit concerned that higher doses could be a problem though

lol maybe you shouldn't struggle to enjoy codeine without alcohol so much :|

Alright, that was my harm-reduction attempt... Take care!

Try taking your dose in the morning as soon as you wake up , this usually produces much more noticeable effects.

Also leave the alcohol it's dangerous (risk of respiratory depression and also much larger chance to vomit which is dangerous when passing out) and only ruins the buzz IMO.

Maybe smoke a little weed if you want to get more of a sedative effect without adding a big risk.

Finally the opiate buzz is more than nodding , it has an euphoric component which will (initially at the least) cause people to get quite energetic.

Drinking alcohol after (or directly before) taking paracetamol is dangerous and very unhealthy for your liver and if your a regular drinker it should be of real concern to you. Paracetamol doesnt add the buzz or high whatsoever. Its put together with codeine and other opiates to aid analgesia (pain relief) by co-sparring (working together in different ways).
Drinking alcohol while taking any opiate should be avoided because of cns depression, ive personally seen very dangerous situations develop with even small doses of those two mixed.
Fyi: if you want a nice mixture with codeine then try cannabis.
For the opiate naive it will give a good nod and increase the euphoria. Also its ALOT safer.

Forgot to add that a little caffeine like a strong cup of coffee, taken with the codeine seems to increase the strength of the effects.
